I didn't know that. Tommy & Jimmy. Great horn players.

ps: You may wish to thank Beth as well for that comment. I was thinking it (you and I must be in tune with each other), but she actually made it. ;)

    Beth,
As you can see how I haven't got the handle on this chat room yet. Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it. I can honestly say this chat room has me talking more than I ever did, maybe too much.

You seem to be doing great, Tony. And chat away... it's nice to have a place to visit with our peers. (You definitely are not talking too much!!)

I've been here 10 months. My Average Daily Post Rate is 7x yours.

You're fine. Now I'm worried about myself.

You and others are posting so many groups I've not heard of. I had 3 older siblings (born in '45, '46, and '49) and listened to their records as well as my father's records. I guess their ages kinda danced around the music of this decade. I find I listen to the music of the 70s and later, or the 40s and earlier.

Regarding The Five Keys...reminds me of The Ink Spots. I kept expecting to hear Hoppy Jones reading the lyrics rather than singing them.

I've always had a love for music, I was seven in 1950 that's just about the time I started collecting records. My first record player only played 78. Every payday which was Friday my father would take me to a record shop in Maspeth New York where I was allowed to pick 1 or 2 records. I look forward to this every week trying to figure out what record to select. I'd listen to make believe Ballroom on Saturday they had the countdown. It was a great time. By the time I was 9 or 10 I became the DJ for the neighborhood parties because of my knowledge of the music and my put together Hi Fi then later stereo.we'd host the parties like New Year's Eve occasional birthday party. The dances I played where the Lindy, slow dance, (fish), Mambo and cha cha. You got to know the songs that got people up and danced like rock around the clock, hound dog Etc. In time dancing change 2 watusi, stroll, mashed potato, slop, limbo, twist.

Those were wonderful times. I see no current social equivalent, which is sad for kids.

(I still have some 78RPM records.)

Did you know that he did not write that song?
Merle Travis did. Merle worked in the coal mines.
