I lost the nail on my Great Toe about 8 months ago, and it's still only about 2/3 re-grown.

This is a slow developing protein substance.

I never lost a whole nail so don't even know how long it should take to grow back but my nails grow too quickly as does my hair on my head.

I have lost the toe nail on my right big toe at least three times. After I lost it the first time as a teenager, when it came back it was a grotesque, square looking cjhunk of bone- looking thing. It wouldgradually grow higher until sometime I couldn't wear some shoes. I would pick at it and finally trim it back down with some heavy-duty toe nail clippers, the ones you use like scissors. A few years ago i had ittaken off. The doc told me he killed it and it wouldnever grow back. It did. It took six or eight months but I have a toenail of sorts. I geta pedicure periodically to get my toenails cut. When I get somebody new working on my feet they always asked, ' what happened here'?, as they rub my toe. At least it doesn't hurt anymore with any shoes.
