I always liked watching Roy Rgers and Dale Evans reruns. I never knew they had a son. I knew they had a little girl with special needs who died very early. It's hard for me to think of Rogers riding a motorcycle.
Roy Rogers even wrote a song about his son, Dusty. The version that I remember has Roy actually saying a prayer over Little dusty; but this is the only copy that i found on Youtube of this particular song. Their daughter was named Robin, and Dale Evans wrote the book about her, called "Angel Unawares". My mother had just finished reading this book soon after my daughter was born. I had named her Roberta, after a friend of mine; but we were still trying to come up with a shorter name to call her. Bobbi or Berta didn't seem to fit with her, and when my mom suggested we call her Robin, it just seemed to be perfect, and she has been called Robin ever since. I always tell her she is my "Robin angel" since she was named after one.
