Our power was out twice today, we woke up to a freezing and pitch black house at around 5:30 this morning, and then an hour or two later, the power went off again for about a half hour and then came back on.
We thought it might be overload because of the extreme cold weather that was knocking the power out, and it turns out that this is somewhat close to what happened.

The power companies were doing what they called “rolling blackouts”, and apparently they put the power off in certain areas for up to a half hour during the morning today.
This is not just here in Huntsville that this is happening.
I was reading about the rolling blackouts on Twitter in several other states; and it is called the “STEP 50 Protocol”, according the the notice put out by our Huntsville Utilities.

It would have been nice of the energy companies to give some warning they
were going to do this - or was it done as some kind of sudden emergency measure ?

I suppose it could have been worse - imagine it happening on Christmas day
right as everyone was cooking Christmas dinner !
Hopefully you won't get anymore of these blackouts.
