I'm putting this here because Feynman could make happy talk, even about Physics. His enthusiasm for everything was/is contagious. Richard Feynman (1918 – 1988) "... In a 1999 poll of 130 leading physicists worldwide by the British journal Physics World he was ranked as one of the ten greatest physicists of all time. For his contributions to the development of quantum electrodynamics, Feynman, jointly with Julian Schwinger and Shin'ichirō Tomonaga, received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965."
"I don't believe in honors. Honors bother me. ... My papa brought me up this way. I can't stand it. It hurts me."
Last night I saw another BIg Bang Theory rerun where Sheldon mentions him. He was mentioned quite a few times on that show...as was Stephan Hawking.
Feynman was a key theoretical physicist in the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. He also found the cause for the Challenger disaster...a leaking O-ring in the main fuel cell. Hal
Thank you! I searched around and think this must be the documentary they are referring to in your link. I'll watch it later tonight. The Fantastic Mr. Feynman BBC That ^^^ website calls this a "trailer" for a short film. (?) Anyway, it's about teaching. I suppose some would call him a bit egotistical. If so, it's in a really nice sort of way, imo. He seems to want to share knowledge, not brag about.
"American physicist, John Wheeler (1911-2008), made seminal contributions to the theories of quantum gravity and nuclear fission, but is best known for coining the term 'black holes'. A keen teacher and mentor, he was also a key figure in the Manhattan Project." [Listener: Ken Ford]
