I live in South Aust so I’m not impacted …,…

our fellow Aussie member @Craig Wilson lives in Sydney which is the next in-line to be hit with this horrific one in 500 year storms / floods
So I’m thinking of you Craig …please don’t take any chances get out early if asked to .

There has already been quite a few deaths in Queensland ( 10 ) and I believe it’s up to 4 drownings in NSW and the storms / floods cells are just moving into NSW

It’s horrific @Shirley Martin Sydney and QLD is subject to flooding at any time of the year
but not like this …the people in the know are calling it a once in 500 year flood .
And you know what ….the LOW LIFE :eek:are still managing to loot shops / homes

A couple of very elderly people who drowned in their own homes in Queensland wouldn’t leave because they believed all would be OK as it had been in the past ……how wrong they were.

Sad. That happens over here, too. People will stay in wildfires, hurricanes and other disasters.

I hope everyone stays safe, Kate. As Shirley said, folks here have stared volcanoes in the eye and lost.

I saw the warnings but not the weather reports. Is this a monsoon spawned from elsewhere? I guess you should be heading into late summer/early autumn right about now.

Thanks for that. Looks like a similar scenario that causes a lot of northeastern snow storms...you get a high pressure system that blocks the low pressure system, which just sits there are dumps for days.

Man, what a nightmare. I have never lived in an area that was under routine meteorological attack...just the occasional "bad storm."

Have we heard from @Craig Wilson @Ken Anderson regarding the devastating floods in NSW
I don’t believe it was as bad as they were expecting or if the area Craig lives in was effected.

The death toll keeps climbing for both NSW and Queensland

We are safe Katey.. nothing more than a flooded garage and a pool that looks like a swamp gggrrr.
BOM (meteorologists) saying that this 500 year event, mass RAIN BOMBS.. call it what you will, are the result of consecutive La Nina weather events. In short warm ocean currents from Sth America merging with cool currents.

These have been deadly floods too with several people drowned in both the north eastern states. With this La Nina we have not had a summer.. has been wet and humid of course but cooler than usual. I suppose we will be back to 40c (104f) temps next summer because of her little brother El Nino.. bloody hell no respite from Mother Nature and her two children...:p.
