Last February when I went to my lung doctor he, they, the VA wanted me to go through another pulmonary rehabilitation. I refused. The VA was going to drop me as a COPD patient. My home based caregiver intervened, writing a letter to to ChestMed doctor that I was not irresponsible about my health that in fact I was proactive but sometimes unorthodox in the way I went about. Point is she s aid, he gets results. I appreciated that because without the lung people relenting I could not get my lung medication through the VA making the cost almost prohibitive to me. She also told them I had heart issues. Back then I didn't feel up to the program. I recedntly called the Norman Regional Hospital and checked out their lung rehab program. I don't have the equipment but I do have a peddler and long rubber bands. This morning I started a exercise regimen using what i have. I did thirty minutes exercise as follows: Foot Peddler ----- 10 minutes Arm Peddler ----- 5 minutes Rubber Bands ---15 minutes Total --- --- --- -- 30 " This ios my starting times. I will add to this exercise as I get into it. I want to work into it slowly, gradually adding more time and as weather permits I will add some walking. My diabetes has been acting up a little so I've got to give that some attention, try to bring it into asa manageable situation with out insolin. Just saying trying to do what I can to make some minor improvements because my breathing situation has been worsening. You all take care cause its a jungle out here.
So impressed Bill - stay where you're comfortable, you are doing so well ! 30 minutes is simply 'great' !
Bill I'm sorry to hear your breathing is getting worse, but great news that you've been able to start a new exercise regime, and hopefully it will improve your breathing. ,. Not fun that you have the diabetes to deal with at the same time tho'...so I wish you every luck and hope you get that settled very soon without insulin, if possible..
Good job! @Bill Boggs. Remember to rest between sets, though. You're not as young as you used to be, you know.
