The engagement of Prince Harry and the American actress meghan Markle has been officially announced from Buckingham Palace this morning. They are expected to wed in the Spring. Congratulations to both of them, and for me I think it's a breath of fresh air rather than the stuffy Royal enclosure that's kept mostly hidden from the general public..... however what are your views on this if any? Harry has always rowed his own boat where possible within the constrictions of the royal family, so it comes as no surprise that he has chosen to love and marry and potentially have children with a woman who has no connection to the royal family ...however she's recently divorced... an actress, an American, and also a different race... which means if they have children, it will be the first time (knowingly to the public anyway)...that the blood line will not be pure white.. ( personally I am excited to see the change) Now none of that would usually be of any concern to a so called Normal citizen...but in all honesty, do you think that any one or all of those things might cause problems...? People are talking about the fall of the royal family...and the beginnings of a republic... now given that the Queen and prince Philip are now in their 90's and there's little doubt that Charles (Harry's father) will be in his 70's before he becomes King... do you think that perhaps when William becomes King (which he has publicly declared he'd rather not have to be)... that he along with his brother may be the cause of the ''downfall'' of the Royal house of Windsor...and that Great Britain may then become a republic... ?
In my opinion Prince William would make a much better King than his father Charles. Let's undo that "stuffiness" all the way in the Royal Family I say! Some people of course will not like any changes being made, while others, probably most the younger crowd will cheer this changes. For sure there are changes ahead for us all and the Countries we live in. Will there be problems along with the changes...I'd say there will be just as there are now. What the outcome will be in the end...we will just have to wait and see. I'm happy for Prince Harry though and I hope he has found his "happy every after"...because I just love a happy ending.
Harry is so far down on the totem pole for grabbing the crown that I don't think it matters much who he gets married too. Would have been different if it was William. Meghan seems a lovely lady and while I am certainly by no means a royal watcher, from what I see she seems more down to earth while Kate strikes me as a bit uppity and insincere. I hope that joining the royal family does not change her.
It's funny how we all see people differently. Kate seems just the opposite to me. I think she is very protective of William and her children and they come first in her life.
I'm not a Royalist, but I am so happy for Harry and Meghan as I was for William and Kate Kate is perfect for William and I hope Harry will be as happy as they are I think Wills will keep it all going, just in a different way
I had to look her up, didn't know who she was. I also don't follow Harry too much so I guess their marriage is fine by me. I do like William and Kate though and will read stories about them.
I find the royal family more of a curiosity. I did watch the last wedding live since I was working PM shift and was up half the night anyway. As far as the race of this woman, who cares and anyone who does is a jerk.
None of us had ever heard of her either until recently when we learned Harry was dating an unknown American actress...and no-one had ever heard of the show she was in either. Apparently neither had many Americans... but she's now left her job, so it remains to be seen what she'll end up doing for a living after the marriage..
@Holly Saunders ...I read she will stop acting and do humanitarian work. I think they are a cute couple just like William and Kate. I do think Harry is a bit more laid back than William. I just hope they will both be happy and stay together.
Yes it was announced that she'd given up her part in the American show ''suits' but as of yet there's been no mention of what role she will play after their marriage whether within the royal family or a career of her own... yes Harry is much more laid back than William, but of course he's not (unless something drastic happens)..ever going to be the crowned king of this country..so he can afford to be much more relaxed ..although he seems to work very hard in all his chosen fields...
Here's a sweet little interview they did together..today... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5122055/Harry-reveals-romantic-proposal-Meghan-Meghan.html
The Royal Family has spent hundreds of years and many generations keeping their bloodline pure. There have been many (if not most) loveless marriages. They have been permitted their dalliances but when it comes time to bear children, they have married someone suitable. Can anyone seriously believe that they are happy about Harry marrying a Woman of Color? The royal spokesman announced last week that the royal family would not be discussing Harry's love life. Meghan is 36 years old so she probably won't have children. But, suppose, just suppose they have a child. That child could very well have brown skin and black kinky hair. Can you imagine presenting it to the queen and saying, "Mum, here is your new great grandchild." Somehow, I don't think so. I think Diana was eliminated to prevent her from marrying a dark skinned man. How much less would a dark skinned child be welcomed?
Until she hooked up with Prince Harry she was totally unknown in this country and when a Poll with the American public was taken to find out how many had heard of her, almost no-one had!!
