We have been noticing that the local fruits are somewhat vanishing. During summer there would be an abundance of local fruits in the market - santol (cotton fruit), duhat (black berry), siniguelas, balimbing (star fruit) and other native fruits. But lately, imported fruits are dominating the market. There are apples all year round, pears and plums not to forget the fresh cherries that are the most expensive. It seems that this globalization thing of free trade is ruining our fruit industry. Seedless grapes are the best sellers which we think are being preferred than local fruits.
