Southwest Oregon State has been having earthquake swarms for the past several days, following a larger quake offshore near an underwater volcano located near Vancouver, BC. While these volcanoes are inactive, and have been for many, many years; it is still something that might become an area of concern if we continue to have earthquake activity where there are also volcanoes. These quakes are north of Crater Lake, and near a smaller lake called Davis Lake . (@Abby Normal , do you know the area since you are from Oregon ? ) Apparently, the quakes in Oregon and Vancouver are not the only ones that are happening near volcanoes, and this video does a good job of showing what other places that they have been happening.
Hi Yvonne, it's been awhile since I've been up there but yes, I am familiar with the area. Crater Lake is an amazing place, and of course, shot it's head off years ago. Here's a nice link I found to read a little about Mount Mazama, as it "was" called: http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2002/fs092-02/ We are supposed to also have very, high winds and rain hit us in Eureka CA this next Wednesday from a storm at sea, I just heard that today. Lots of things going on. http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2014/12/10/california-storm/20187287/
