I came upon an old 7up ad from the ‘40’s and after reading it, I thought it might be fun to have a thread on just old ads and even some wive’s tales thrown in.

Note: There’s a possibility that there’s already a thread on it but I didn’t see one right off hand so I started this one.

My dad smoked ‘em, Rod Serling smoked ‘em, so I smoked ‘em.
I paid 25 cents for them when I was in the Army and I think they’re about $10 a pack now.

...and that was probably when 7-Up still had lithium carbonate in it.

When my son was a baby, his pediatrician put him on Camphorated Tincture of Opium (Paragoric) for his intestinal problems.
After about a week of giving him that crap, my next door neighbor, an old retired MD told me to put that stuff away and give him 7up.
    Intestinal problems gone…..

I just had to look up Mrs. Cora B. Miller on the net and
No matter where I managed a restaurant or cocktail lounge, I always made sure that I had a bottle of Blackberry Brandy on hand that I labeled, “Ladies Only”.
I had one senior lady come in one day and saw the bottle and asked for a drink of it then left. The next day she came back with her own snifter and told the bartender she wanted “three fingers” of that stuff. I guess she figured that if an ounce and a half made her feel good then 6 ounces would make her feel even better.

Gotta be better than Scotch and milk…..I think.
Of course, scotch and milk would keep the kids quieter than 7up and milk.

This fun contraption, which totally looks like it should be used to make coffee, was gas powered. So yeah, just hook it up to your gas tank and have at it. That doesn’t sound dangerous at all.

With the exception of one bit, it looks kinda like some sort of massager. Okay……I’ll bite……

Vibrator @Bobby Cole. Supposedly the 3rd most common appliance in the 1920s home after the iron and sewing machine.
