Please bear with the whole story......40 years ago today, May 4, 1979, my high school friend Charlie bounded off a plane from Chicago in Vegas as we waited for him. He would later that day stand up as first man at our wedding. My fiance and I had driven out from Indiana, where we both lived and worked. Also invited were my Advisor and Professor from UNLV, Herb Wells and his new wife Melissa, who had graduated in Engineering along with me 3 years earlier, 1976. The deal went down in The Little Chapel on the Las Vegas Strip. Charlie is on the right. Herb always towered over everyone! He died in about 2005; he was responsible for my having graduated at all, pushing me as I endured a divorce. I will be forever grateful to him, humanitarian, teacher, friend. Charlie is the only person who has remained in touch since high school graduation, out of 722 Seniors; guess I wasn't very popular? Today, our 40th., we decided to splurge and have dinner at one of our favorites: AVI Hotel & Casino Buffet, Prime Rib and Shrimp Special, PLUS, we had a BOGO, both would eat for one price. I dropped my wife at the door, we expected huge lines of folks, I parked in the garage, walked the 1/4 mile to the Casino, and found her unexpectedly near the front doors. First thing she said was, "Not good news". They had for May dropped her Player's Card rating one notch, and the BOGO was not present. We deliberated: $20 each, studying the menu revealed nothing really justified the price doubling from their usual Brunch @ $11, only the prime rib was added. We left. Thus, the 40th., revered as special, finds me telling about it's negative ending. Everything else about today was just fine! Frank
May 4, sorry, but sorrier the image failed as I have revealed myself as never before. I'll try re-posting it. Frank
Happy anniversary Frank! This would have been my 57th., but my beautiful wife passed in April 2018 after suffering several years of dementia. Love yours and hold her close.
@Jerry Adams Thank you, kindly, Jerry. Not sure why I posted this, but had hoped it might help some others relieve those pent-up lonely feelings just as you describe.

I forgot to say Frank....you share your Wedding anniversary with my husbands Birthday... he's 59 today!!
I think that the real celebration is in being married for 40 years in a time when most marriages don't last 10 years. Happy Anniversary to you both!
