    is making just enough...
    ...and nothing more.

A new word for my oxymoronic contribution to the financial lexicon of tomorrow.

On another note, nothing Plus nothing still leaves nothing but I have a positive attitude about it.

I just noticed in the Billy Preston video that there are plenty of horns in the music, but none in the video. o_O

    Time for coffee. :p

soooooo... just to differentiate: noughing ain't nothing, but it could be nuffing as opposed to nuffin. Still it has to be something though not way too much. Just having enough not more (or less). Although from experience I've actually been a happier fellow without than when I had so much to lose. Enough is just right for me.

Luvin' it better if "noughing is said"! But you do make an important point there Beth... It never occurred to me that the enormity of this responsibility for giving birth to an expression would encompass its application in such disparate instances. There would be normal usage, something practiced in day-to-day conversation. Or when applied to verse, how its eventual connotation should be effectively apparent. Then there's the impractical approach through idiomatic expression but the true test of time would be if it's accepted in the vernacular of the masses or farther on as it evolves into slang.

Here I was thinking this was about 'nothing' when it's really about 'enough' at least that's what I found when I googled the word.:D

Whew! I hadn't bothered to do due diligence... my bag. So when you implied that there may have been previous usage of noughing, my feelings were that the whole point of the practice would be rendered moot. Such as it were the searches rendered only conjecture. But given that practically nothing is original we'd have to accept the fact that it already exists, albeit not commonly, and that's something we can work around.

What piques my imagination is, in our case at least, there is a combination of dissimilar concepts whose synergy creates a deeper understanding, a conscience (if you will)... or one would hope.

I'm happy to say that nothing's moot in this forum at least not to me. I never heard of 'noughing' or saw a spelling of it but it tickles me to find out things like this.
