My name is Frank Sanoica. I have just become a member. A friend and co-worker from long ago told me I might enjoy being a member. My friend was a relation to my father's employee, in Chicago. My dad was a great guy, full of wisdom, earned the hard way. He was born and grew up on Chicago's south side. My father worked very diligently for his company, and became a supervisor over a research and development group which was called upon to build a machine able to greatly reduce manufacturing costs. He inherited the position after the engineer who began the project decided to leave the company. This story was told to me numerous times by my dad. He died in 2004. I want very much to live up to his expectations of me. I am also an engineer, thanks to his urging. I am not sure where to start. I have not yet studied the forum contents, so my intro here will just have to get things going. Thank you for having me. FS
Welcome to the forum Frank I hope you enjoy your time here and find something of interest, we are a friendly group of mature folks with a wide range of interests and from my experience easy going and fun to be with. Look forward to hearing more about your life and interests.
Welcome Frank from London England... and giving us a little insight into your background...think you'll like it here.
Welcome to the forum Frank from California, although my heart belongs to Chicago where I was married and had my 2 children....North side though.
Welcome, @Frank Sanoica ! So, now, you have got us all curious about just which member here are you a friend and former co-worker with, that invited you to the forum. So far, no one has stepped up and said "Glad you finally made it", or words to that effect, and I think that most of us are all guessing who your friend might be. Looking forward to more posts, and finding clues to our new "forum puzzle" . Yvonne
First of all, how to thank all of you, individually, for spending time on a newcomer! Collectively, I thank you all; I am moved. My coworker I do not believe is a member. He spotted the forum while doing a search related to seniors, I think. He asked me specifically to say little, should I decide to jump in. Pretty private fellow, but considering his long life of difficulty, I must respect that. I know of no other who has spun in circles as long as he. A bit more about me, being an engineer makes for a rather shaky ride in forums not designated as technically-oriented. We think, evaluate to excess, hold off decision making, are often introverted (I certainly am), and often pessimistic (ditto). My little wife hates it, but has been an able help over the long road with her down to earth ability to weigh things for their value. I need to really look the place over. Not an experienced forum goer, or whatever the usual term would be, are each of the various categories presented called "forums" too, or are they categories? I have plenty to learn. Thank you all for the kind welcomes! I will try to make my stay useful, but how, I cannot say. FS In looking things over, I saw that someone has "tagged" my thread. Will someone tell me what that means, and how is it achieved? Thank you for helping.
The categories are the larger headings, the ones in capitals: Forum Administration & Notices, Education & Entertainment, Getting It Done, Hot Button Issues, I Remember When, On The Lighter Side, Ourselves & Others, and Off Topic. The ones beneath them are also called forums, although I try to refer to them as sub-forums so as not to confuse things. Within each sub-forum are the threads, and each thread consists of posts.
