I have been married twice. First was short marriage and I divorced. Second was long marriage 22 years and my husband passed away in 2000. I had a friend for 7 years and he passed away 8 years ago. We went on 4 cruises but I prefer dry land to cruising. I am very prone to motion sickness. How was the ending on your book?

Evelyn has been here at Oakmont for three years and occupies the apartment next to mine. She is just one of several residents in their 90's. She too uses a walker but walks better than I do. Her hair and attire is always just right and mentally she is one sharp and savy woman.

I do more cooking here of late than ever. Our regional dietician must have been drunk when she signed off on these horrendous menus. Our chef's hands are tied as they terrorize him with firing if he changes one little thing on his own. Good grief, who can work under such stress as that? I eat in my apartment and avoid the drama of the dining room anyhow of which there is too much. Too many people here with dementia these days and don't know whether they are coming or going. Sad.

oh wow, poor Chef, you're right who would or could have a happy working life working under that kind of tension. Good thing you've got the facilities which allow you to eat in your own apartment.

BTW love the new avatar... :D

The folks here eat in a different dining room if they have dementia.

They must pay very well here for I cannot imagine any chef putting up with such nonsense. My cousin was a first rate chef who studied at Larousse Gastronomique in Paris and at the American Culinary Institute, and he'd tell them to stuff their job if his ability to create in the kitchen was ever compromised in such a manner.

She is lovely, @Lon Tanner . Do you sit with her while y'all eat? It would be nice to have someone attractive and interesting to chat with while you are dining.

The pic was taken this morning as she sat across from me at breakfast. She is hearing impaired as I am so chatting is somewhat strained. She usually sits with some other female residents.

@Lon Tanner ,you could take a pad and pen and write what you want to say. Or, if you both have cell phones, you could text each other.

What a brilliant idea!!! That is what young people now do in a bar when the band is too loud.

@Lon Tanner It's always nice to make a new friend. Sometimes, just a smile from someone makes a person feel better!
