Here is lovely Evelyn enjoying lunch. Sitting down you can't see that she is 6 ft 1
Did she know you were taking that photo Lon?...
What's your point, Grandma?
..are you addressing me ?..I'm not a grandma..
It's kind of a household joke between me, my wife, and her kinfolk. No offense intended, nor accepted, I hope.
Once, when my wife's mother was carrying on some sort of long string of information, her 5 year old grandson, wise beyond his years, uttered that question!
I asked for permission andshe said no problem
I think you're right, she has beautiful skin and nice hair for a lady almost a century old... so I suspect with her statuesque height , she was probably a head turner in her day
Despite my impaired hearing I have been able to learn from my neighbors that many of them have been to New Zealand where I have spent 26 years of my retirement before coming home to California. Most have done a number of cruises and all have been to Europe & UK. Given the age of these folks and the fact that all are retired and have been for some time it's nice to see that they enjoyed their retirement. My observation is that financially these folks though not rich, are quite comfortable (you must be to live here).
I have travelled to a lot of countries in Europe, .....Greece, Greek Islands, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Turkey, Austria, even lived for some years in a few but never travelled outside Europe tho''..
My daughter OTOH, has not only visited many countries in Europe like me , ( and also lives on the continent)..but has travelled to the USA ( California, New York City, Colorado, several times...)... Canada several times times...Australia twice... The Maldives twice, South Africa ( Cape town ) once... Dubai twice, Mexico once, and more I can't think of at the moment, and she's only in her early 40's...
Good morning Lon, Yes, cooking for one is a challenge. I don’t think I would miss cooking, if I moved
to Retirement Residence. You said that sometimes it can feel isolating living there, but I have days where
I feel that way living in my condo. Finding like minded people is the key to overcoming that. That, I find,
is not easy. Enjoy your day. Eileen
Here it is 7 AM and I am enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the morning news on TV. At 9AM one of the staff will come to my apartment to STAND BY in my bedroom as I shower & dress. Even though there is a chair and grab bars in my shower to prevent a fall, my LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE POLICY requires STAND BY for me to collect benefits. I will go down to the dining room for breakfast at 9:45 AM and have Eggs Benedict and a bowl of fresh fruit.
Hi Lon, That sounds like a good start to your day with a nourishing breakfast. I am sitting out on my condo balcony and the temperature is the same as Florida today. Our summers can be hot and humid. Lovely to sit out with shade
and watch the world go by. I plan to cook a pepper(sweet) dish today, like a stir fry, a favourite.
Enjoy breakfast. Eileen
Stir Fry Meals were one of my specialties when I was doing my own cooking. I love different Curries and enjoyed experimenting. I'll finish up a John Grisham novel today.
My pepper dish turned out well. The sweet yellow, orange and red peppers are more in season and
have much flavour, yum! I read most days, a good past time. I’m debating with myself as to my
direction in life right now. The weather is so lovely that a week in cottage country at a resort
May be nice or stay home and check out Retirement Residences. A resort and spa holiday is
appealing. I will see what is available. It’s our busy season and most people book in advance
of summer. Enjoy your book. Eileen
You are still young Eileen. How about a nice Cruise? BTW Are you widowed or divorced?
