What colour is your hair...do you colour it yourself...or are you au naturel ..that is if you have hair of course... :D

I'm naturally Blonde... as you can see by my Avi and I often colour it myself different shades, sometimes lighter or darker..... but since I retired 4 months ago, wisps of grey have started showing at the roots...and as I have Rotor cuff tendinitis in both shoulders currently, I can't do my own hair... so I had t coloured by a hairdresser who came to my house the other day to save me a torturous 3 hours in a Salon chair, and the drive there and back.

I was just going to get her to touch up the roots, but I liked this honey colour so much I let her colour my whole head..it's darker than I'm used to but I like it..

That's a pretty color! Your hair is longer than mine!

I have mine done at a salon every 3 months or so....roots and highlights. My hair has a few shades of blonde in it.

My wife colors her hair at home, but will get it permed at saloon for Christmas. Her hair is blonde, but not as long as it use to be.

As for me, I use Just For Men on my mustache and temples.

Coloring our hair must be the reason most people don't think we are in our late 60's. Of course, our personalities play a part in that also.:D

My natural color now would probably be all grey if I let the color grow out of it.

I was born with hair color that I call "mousy brown" but when I was a teenager I dyed my hair auburn and kept it that color for years and years. Now I color my hair more of the brown I was born with although it has some reddish high lights depending on the lighting.

I let the natural color come out again a few years back but decided there was so much grey along with what was left of the brown that it just dragged my face and my personality down. Going back to auburn though was to lively for me and I couldn't get comfortable with that color anymore. So now it's a very toned down reddish brown and I feel like me again. The color in my Avatar is the color my hair is now.:) And I do the coloring myself for now.

Your new color is very pretty @Holly Saunders and should lighten up some since you had it done so recently.

Carol Dobra has been going to the same hairdresser for a few years, so she no longer tints her own hair. She tried tiny blond strips for a while, but they fade n the sun. Me? Nowt except cheap shampoo!! One thing I don't like to see is elderly ladies with jet black hair and pallid skin....

Thank you all for the compliments on my colour....

Dobra you're so right..male or female with dyed black hair looks awful...as we age our skin naturally becomes lighter, so if people dye their hair the same colour it was in their youth then it's going to look awful...and it always does..

@Holly Saunders, that "honey" colour is a honey of a colour and a keeper IMO.

The only thing I'll say about hair color is that no one, except those with naturally black hair, should ever dye their hair black. It looks hideous. If you must dye your hair a different color, go to a lighter color. I'm old and have very little hair on top so I keep it very short, No comb-overs for me, they look ridiculous.

It does look nice and that's great that you can have someone come to your home. That would be a rarity in the U.S..

A co-worker suggested I color my hair. She does and she says it perks her up. I have let mine go grey and it has a lot of dull natural color left. I'll think about it.

Yes @Kitty Carmel a 'mobile hairdresser'' is a very common occurrence here... but it was only last week that I was told by several American friends that it just doesn't happen in the USA...in fact in most states it's illegal allegedly

Gloria, before I took early retirement this year I had my hair coloured at the salon twice a year...it was a PITA because I have lower back problems and sitting in the chair for 3 hours at a time was very painful, but I'd get 2 shades put in ....in between times if it needed touching up, I'd do it myself from a Box...

Now I don't have to look so smart for work, I'm happy much as it's a nuisance to just do it myself at home because it's so much quicker, but now due to the shoulder problems I can't raise my arms above or behind my head..but I still didn't want to sit in a salon chair ...so hence the need for the mobile hair stylist...it meant I could get up and walk around to ease my back ...and also it was so much cheaper to get it done at home.

A cut and colour here costs around £140 at the salon

I just put $140 dollars into currency converter and your paying around £30 less than me and probably for the same thing too...

This isn't the most expensive salon around but she's the owner and great with my hair and my daughter has been going to her forever. I don't get my hair done in Fresno, did once and then I had to have her fix it...it came out ash...ugh. And it was right before the wedding cruise so it was important. I wanted to cry.
