I have a wonderful little Rat Terrier mix named Twiggy. My girlfriend gave her to me when I moved into my apartment so I would not be alone all of the time. She is a real sweet little girl. Her only downside is she sheds like crazy! I sweep my floors every other day and get up enough of her fur to make a whole nother dog!
She sits next to me in my recliner all of the time. There is just enough room between my leg and the arm of the chair for her to snuggle into. And she sleeps with me at night,,, under the covers!
Every time I get up, she follows me where ever I go. It would be nice to make a trip to the bathroom alone! When I ask her if she wants to go out she dances around my feet while I get her leash and then holds still until I get her clipped onto it. Then she is the first one out the door.
I really enjoy her company and it is good to have her here.

Hi Evelyn, it's nice to hear from you. :) I know you remember my Izzy, and your little Twiggy acts just like him. Except Izzy sleeps on top of our covers, and he has to be right up next to me. He has literally scooted me right off the bed, and I just go around and get back in bed, but from the other side.

If I'm not paying attention, he will sneak into my shower, and jump up on the built in seat. By the time I see him, he is already soaking wet, so I just shampoo him as well. :p At least he stays clean. Silly dog!!! :D

Your story about Izzy getting in the shower with you reminds me of a dog that I once had, @Ina I. Wonder . She was a pure white Boxer, and was a beautiful dog; but we lived in the country and she needed a lot of baths.
The first few times, I had to literally skid her into the shower with me; but then she started getting the idea that she didn't mind being wet, and she enjoyed the back scrub that she always got.
After that, she would always happily jump into the shower and she stayed clean and Snow White.
I was on the road, selling life insurance, at that time of my life, and she used to travel along with me. I had a little Mazda pickup with a canopy on the back, and the slider window into the cab.
She rode in the back and could put her head through the window when she wanted to; but it kept her off of all of my paperwork that took up most of the front seat of the pickup.

I'm sure she is as happy to be with you are you are to have her. Do you brush her? I hate brushing the cats in the summer but afterward they look and feel so much better.

@Kitty Carmel , do you have any cats that go indoor and outdoors? My neighbor has one that is both, and I've been wondering is there anything that must be done to get the kitty to go in and out.

We live in a rural area, and we see almost no traffic, so I'm guessing they feel their pet is safe. They've lived there for about a year and a half now, and their kitty looks much healthier than when it first got here. o_O

My cats are strictly indoors. They have been at this apartment since I got them as kittens. My Torte was a stray, sort of. Neighbors of my parents moved and left her. So I took her to my apartment at the time and she was indoors for the rest of her life and never tried to get out.

Our little dogs just love us and want to be close. Right now Twiggy is settled down between my leg and the arm of the recliner with her head on my knee.

Hi Evelyn. I hope your doing well. Have you gotten your new place all settled? What are you doing to keep yourself busy? After being all wound up in family affairs for most of our lives, it can be difficult to adjust to being on our own.

One of my grandsons has come to live with me now, and it has helped immensely. If I do fall, he's very good at picking me back up. I've heard that there are people that will come to your house at least once a month for wellness checks. Do you have someone like that?
