May is considered Military Appreciation Month. I'm not posting this to get into a big flame war about government, politics, war, etc., so don't start that here. If you don't support the military, just move along and ignore this post. I came across this, and thought it was pretty interesting, so wanted to share it with those who would like to say thanks to our military http://mashable.com/2015/05/04/thankskindly-military-appreciation/
Thanks, I do, too. I'm having tech issues today for some reason, and that was the link from another thread. I just updated it with the correct link!
I am Very Proud of our Military Members, and Deeply Appreciate their service to our country. Good Thread, Diane.
Thanks, Pat! I saw this very sad story on Facebook earlier. I think we can do better for our Military, and we need to. We seem to care more about the terrorists in GITMO than we do our own who are serving, and who have served. http://www.fox10phoenix.com/story/2...-administration-grounds#.VVILoEbuxwQ.facebook
I am so thankful for our military! I work in a huge retail store, and every time I see a serviceman, I thank him for his service. Most of them are very modest, and tell me it was an honor to serve the good people in America. It brings tears to my eyes. We can never thank them enough...NEVER!
Awww! Thank YOU sir! My 18 year old son has always wanted to be a Marine. I hope he makes it, but it will be so hard to see him go. On the other hand, that will be the proudest day of my life!
LOL My 18 year old granddaughter is also applying to the Marines! I have mixed feelings but she is a toughie!
This is pretty cool https://www.facebook.com/foxandfriends/videos/861384687282462/ I love when I hear stories or videos like this, about people who appreciate our country and those who defend it.
This happens whenever the Wounded Warriors are in town. I love seeing the appreciation and recognition they're given. https://www.facebook.com/KPRC2/videos/1073263222703730/?pnref=story
I'm very happy to see this. He has worked tirelessly to help and support our veterans and military community. http://freebeacon.com/culture/gary-sinise-to-receive-service-to-america-leadership-award/
One of the stores that really shows appreciation for our veterans is Lowes (my most favorite store), and they give every veteran a 10% discount on every single thing that you buy, every time that you shop there. When we go, Bobby takes along his military VA card, and they always are very courteous to us and give him the discount. Some other stores also give veterans a discount; but usually only over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, like Home Depot does.
If we wear our Vet badge on remembrance day we may get a discounted cuppa and a pat on the head but that's about it. As I was involved in R & R personnel movement to and from Nam I also have memories of that time. Most of them reasonably pleasant
