Not sure if you call them 'railings' over there - they are the equivalent of a wooden fence made of
metal :p Usually at front of the house.
A lot of children, and some adults  seem to be compelled to push their head through railings,
never understood why - you can see through them perfectly well. The result of this action is that
the head gets stuck between the railings ! Usually the fire brigade is called to release the person.
Paul says - just turn the person upside down ! Huh ? would that work ? !
Can't get me head around that one …………. :p
Ever done this silly act - would you admit to it - if so, what's the compulsion all about ?
Maybe its a British thing ……...

An antique 19th century primitive English School pen and ink cartoon drawing, it depicts an amusing scene of carious figures climbing over some metal railings, it bears the inscription “Not having the key they scale the railings Arch Deacon being of a full habit of body pauses for breath upon the top, cabman comment”

Goats with horns are notorious for getting stuck in fences.

People try all sorts of things to stop them. Like this

I couldn't get a picture but when I was driving back from our camp one day, a very large bear was trying, and eventually succeeded, in squeezing himself underneath a guard rail along the road. In about ten steps, he could have walked around it. I pulled over, thinking he was stuck, but he managed.

Think the building code in the U.S. requires the fences and railings to have no more that 4 inches between slats to prevent the head issue. We never allowed horns on our goats, but we had a ram that would get his head stuck. He was the stupidest 4-legged creature I ever encountered. He would butt the fence until he created a big enough hole to get his head through, then stick it through and get stuck. He was also very mean. He ended up as delicious Italian sausage.

No, I wouldn't admit it. My brother once got his finger stuck in a soda bottle while we were driving to visit my grandmother.
I remember being helpful, loudly, "What's the matter? Can't you get your finger out of the Coke bottle?" lol

A few years ago, there was a ram standing against the deck outside my back door. It's very rural here, but this is a subdivision. Someone must have put it out.

He stood there for a day or two until the people who round up animals came and got him. They put up a fence on either end of
my house and moved it in slowly to catch him.
