I do miss the big family Christmases, but that is one of the downsides of spending my life more than a thousand miles away from home, I suppose.

Merry Christmas everyone, whether you'll be spending it with tons of family, only a couple of you, or by yourselves. I have had Christmases alone, and you can get through it. The only thing that really sucks is that most everything is closed.

As I pointed out in the first post in this thread, there is a sadness about Christmas. Whatever your current Christmas situation might be, there are people who are no longer part of it, yet they are part of your thoughts of Christmas. In a way, the sadness that you might feel in reminiscing about Christmases past honors these people, as they are still here in our hearts and minds, but those who aren't here shouldn't crowd out those who are.

For some of us, Christmas will never top those that we remember from our childhoods. That's not the case for everyone and some of you may have exceeded the Christmases of your childhood with your own families, being your wife, husband, children, grandchildren, and so on.

Honoring the past has its place, but it's probably not a good idea to let it crowd out the present. Treasure anyone who may be with you at Christmas in 2019, as they may be your memories in subsequent years.

Merry Christmas. I wish you all the best.
