I flew back from Westpac on a C5 in 1973. I think there were 6 or 8 school busses in the hold. We landed on Wake Island to refuel and when we took off the landing gear wouldn't come up. We flew very slowly all the way to Honolulu with the gear down--also very noisy--and were stranded in Hawaii for 3 days while we waited for the plane to be repaired. We then flew on to Travis in California.
