The first person who was shot by Rittenhouse was throwing what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail at him, and was a pedophile who had attacked children. The other two people also had criminal records, the one with a gun in his hand had been shooting at Rittenhouse and missed him, and the other one was in the process of attacking him with a skateboard while Rittenhouse was trapped on the ground after falling. I agree that he should not have been there, trying to help protect the businesses from being demolished and burned, but his being there with a weapon to protect people is a better reason than the others who also had lethal weapons and were there for the sole purpose of destroying property and killing people. I think that he will not be convicted, and may have lawsuits against the media for perverting the news, despite the evidence from freelance journalists like Andy Ngo, who has been also covering the Portland riots.
Governments and police departments were set up to maintain a sense of order and safety. When they fail to do that, for whatever reason, people will band together to fill the gaps. This isn't ideal but when Democrat governors and mayors are openly on the side of the rioters and looters, and local and federal law enforcement are restrained from coming against the thugs, someone is going to take their place. Vigilantism is not the ideal, but when it's your business, your home, and your life that is threatened, they are better than the nothing we'd have otherwise.
This is my thought exactly ! The rioters that were shot were all adults, and all had criminal records, and so were not legal to carry a weapon, in any case. Besides it being not legal to burn down businesses, and shoot at people, throw those Molotov cocktail bombs, and carry mustard gas (or whatever kind of spray it was), they were chasing down a teenager who was running away from them, while being actively pursued and shot at, and then attacked. Even if you consider him a protester , too; then one protester has as much (or as little) right to be there as any of the other ones did.
I am hearing that Lin Wood, the lead attorney in Nick Sandmann's lawsuits, has agreed to defend Rittenhouse pro bono.
Lin Wood and some other defense attorneys have started a foundation where people can donate for Rittenhouse, and if it turns out that they will be defending other people who need help, this will probably work for those people as well. They saw that GFM was shutting down campaigns, and set up this new website , which can not be controlled by the media, or any left-leaning organization, like GFM . They seem to be fine with all of the campaigns for arrested BLM people, just not for conservatives like Rittenhouse. It seems like this is what happened with Nick Sandmann, too.

There are pictures on facebook and twitter that show the destruction done in Kenosha, but most do not show that it was not only businesses that were burned, but also peoples homes. Here is one picture showing a burned out part of an apartment complex, and there are other pictures that look like they were so badly destroyed with fire that they had to be totally demolished.
