A barber gave a haircut to a priest one day. The priest tried to pay
for the haircut but the barber refused saying, "I cannot accept money
from you, for you are a good man - you do God's work."
The next morning the barber found a dozen bibles at the door to
    his shop.

A policeman came to the barber for a haircut, and again the barber
refused payment saying, "I cannot accept money from you, for you are
a good man - you protect the public."
The next morning the barber found a dozen doughnuts at the door
    to his shop.

A lawyer came to the barber for a haircut, and again the barber
refused payment saying, "I cannot accept money from you, for you
are a good man - you serve the justice system."
The next morning the barber found a dozen more lawyers waiting
    for a haircut.

Now this man needs help. You might need to get some more help on this one Joe. If I was you I'd find the local psychologist for this one. Although he does look warm, but I can't think of anyone who would want to cozy up to him.

My dad used to use the hand clippers on my Brother and I, when we were kids. When we were 8 and 13, we would sometimes walk or take the streetcar, to the lower North-side, to visit the "Barber School". "Haircuts" there were 50 cents. We usually got buzz cuts.

Joe, I too am a leftover hippie, only now I get called an earth mother. I'm not sure what the difference is, but now for some reason I'm much more accepted by that term. They don't believe me when I tell them that 'drugs' are more common today than when I was young. Now I'm not talking about a little herb, I'm speaking of drugs.

Folks took us kids to an old barber in a small community just west of where we lived. Haircuts were 25 cents. I was probably in 1st or 2nd grade when that barber retired. The only other barber close was about 10 miles east. We went there once. He charged 75 cents. Mom said we couldn't afford to pay that much. She got out the old... very dull... hand clippers and gave us our haircuts clear through high school.
