SIGH …..While we was away we both had issues with the internet where we was sitting …..but now I’ve got issues with my iPad …it’s giving me real hassles ….

Firstly DH set up my new laptop , and I was encouraged to set up a gmail recovery account ( I’ve never had one ) I’d just nominated my DH email address as a recovery incase my address locked me out or what ever

Don’t know if it’s just coincidental . but since setting up recovery account ….and the laptop …..

I can’t get any emails ….cant log into online accounts , including forum id logged out of …..yep I’m logged into correct account for the matching email address …I’ve only got one email address…and a recovery account

My iPad and phone asks for me to sign in all the time when I’m already signed in …..and I’ve changed passwords …

.mainly due to getting heaps of text messages supplying me a one off number to log into accounts that I had NOT …REQUESTED …….apparently someone was trying to change my passwords and I was getting the text ….text simply said I can ignore text if it wasn’t me …

.but what was going on ‍♀️

So what a pain …….tomorrow we’ve got visitors for tea ….but in between prepping tea I’m going to look at new laptop and (if I have to , delete everything off it) …just in case it’s effecting my emails coming through …as well as other issues mentioned

    I’ve changed passwords 6 or 7 times …

On top of all this Apple had a what id considered a major update ….so just incase its that causing issues ..I’ve turned my phone and iPad off and on ……several times..which will often “ fix” any glitches ..to no avail …

If you have the Apple Support app on any of your devices, you can use that to message Apple and tell them what is happening , and they may be able to help you, @Kate Ellery .
If it is some kind of issue related to the latest update, they will know about it and how you can fix it. There might be a new patch that you. Have not installed after you installed iOS18. I have not had any issues with my phone or ipad, but there usually are people that do.

It seems more like it might be something to do with google than with Apple, is the new laptop an Apple or a google Chromebook, or something with Windows on it ?
Windows is known for having all kinds of spam and scams and needs good antivirus on it, Google and Apple both seem to do really well at blocking any kind of virus attacks.

I spent 2 hours in the phone with Apple yesterday …trying to sort out the issues with my iPad / mail and nothing's… changed
They give such great service they phoned me after I requested help in solving the issue ..chatted for over an hour…

.then they wanted to go through the process of deleting my email and reinstalling it …..so they gave me an hour break and phoned me back again …..like I said nothings changed ..still no emails ..so I’m going to wait will they phone me AGAIN …this afternoon .

and ask the if it somehow could be related to the newest update 18.01 or just maybe the recovery email I set up just recently
I wouldn’t think so but when you can’t solve an issue ….you start thinking of ..well could it be this or that ….

So the issue sorta had her guessing as well … because with my permission they take control of your iPad …..and say try this …try that …so their customer service / advice is 100% spot on @Yvonne Smith

Google stores everything in the cloud, so you should be able to delete the app and re-install it and still have all your content. If you also use the Apple iCloud storage, they would have saved everything for you as well.
I am happy that you got the situation settled and the gmail is working for you again.

Yes I pay $1.50 a month for 50g iCloud @Yvonne Smith it’s proved it’s worth ….ive only used a fraction of the space
This all started after DH set my new laptop up …
I got a 14 inch Acer , I got it from office works ..the young lady was very knowledgeable and advised me to get this one after telling her what I wanted it for …didn’t need extra things / features gaming lap tops have …. IMG_7350.jpeg

To be honest I haven’t even touched it since getting home as I’ve been bogged been by the issues with the iPad

Try going to your text and iMessages on your phone and ipad and set the do not disturb on both of those for overnight. That is where the alerts are coming from, and just show up because you are wearing the watch.
Hoping that works. I never set alerts, in case I get emergency messages at night; so I am not sure if that will fix it, but I have seen where people have set their do not disturb to turn off alerts.
