Yea...wouldn't drive under those conditions either. What I hate is when I watch the grandsons in Illinois and I have to take them somewhere...and have to drive a strange huge minivan or a Jeep Wrangler, plus get three boys in the car, easier now that only one is in a car seat but was harder when they were all younger.

Then I'm horrible with directions and tend to get lost, plus when I do get there I have 3 boys to watch and control and only 2 hands. :)

I dread it and I tell my son that make sure I don't have to be driving them places. It's just too stressful keeping your eye on three active boys when we are out...anywhere.

I'm still working full time. My hope of working part time and having a permanent place to live that I own is not going so far as planned. I think I let a lot of fear run me.

So I don't know if full retirement will go as planned at all. I'm not expecting money to travel. I'm just asking for a safe and decent place to live and enough money to support myself and pets.

Better! Have more retirement income than we thought, live in a great small town now with lots of nice people, and we have a great, low-maintenance home with minimal yard to care for..

Gee, I keep telling people, on this forum, just how much enough money can play a huge part in “retirement happiness”.

Yeah, pretty much. I wanted a quiet apartment. Now that the gawd-awful construction across the street has nearly finished I can stay up as late as I want, and sleep as late as I want. Always wanted an air conditioner to protect me from the yearly heatwaves. Check! Wanted to be a recluse and spend lotsa time on the internet. Check! Yeah, pretty much.

I just retired on 9'th July 2018, and I am still " settling in ".
My plan is to move back home to the Scottish Borders to live but I am taking my time and just enjoying where I am at the moment.
Being single and with no children i can basically do as I please so i am looking forward to the future as a new beginning.

I retired a year ago.. early retirement caused by health issues... I had never planned to retire but circumstances forced me into it at 62. I would love to return to Scotland where I was born and raised , but my English husband who is still in his 50's and very much still employed needs to be close to work...and further to that, he won't even hear of moving to Scotland, he couldn't stand the generally poor weather

I haven't retired yet, still working 40 hrs a week.

Nice part of this is that for once, I can quit at a moments notice if I want.

Work because I feel I can still contribute something.

But if things get too much, I have enough income and savings to just walk away.

    So mentally, I feel 'retired'.
