Who told you to leave the forum, Babs? I never said you can't believe what you do, but then respect what I believe even if they are different. My beliefs include Mary being Holy and the Hail Mary has always been one of my favorite prayers, maybe because I've said so many after confession as my penance. :)

Don't forget you wouldn't even be on this forum if I didn't watch what happened to you on SF and tell Yvonne to PM you and invite you here. I saw all your religious writing on SF and although it's not my belief I still felt you were being attacked over there.

I think this is the biggest difference and why I can't get past other religions that all you have to do is accept Jesus as your savior and you will go to heaven. I find that flawed and that's probably why no matter what is quoted, I can't believe it as true for me. Beside Mary, this is the key difference with Catholics.

Salvation - The Catholic religion teaches that salvation depends on faith, works and sacraments. Protestant religions teach that salvation depends on faith only.

Salvation (Losing Salvation) - Catholics believe that salvation is lost when a responsible person commits a mortal sin. It can be regained through repentance and the sacrament of confession. Protestants usually believe, once a person is saved, they cannot lose their salvation. Some denominations teach that a person can lose their salvation.

Also, I'm not professing to be a good Catholic, I've strayed and gone back a few times but it's always been to the Catholic Church. In searching other ideas, it usually revolved around spiritual with no religion.

Just wanted to add that and I'm not trying to convert anyone either.

I am pretty sure that it is Ken Anderson who pays all the bills for this forum, @Babs Hunt ; so it IS indeed his forum, and he also has the final say in what is allowed to go on here. This is NOT a public forum, it is a private one, and we are all here by invitation.
That being said, Ken is also as fair a man as ever could be, good-hearted, and forgiving of us when we make mistakes, and most of the time he simply allows people to post whatver we wish to say.
While we are allowed to say what we think and feel; along with the right to do that comes the responsibility to be considerate of the other people on the forum.

What it sounds like you are telling us is that if someone disagrees with you, then we should stay off of your thread (not tread) ; and if that is what you wish, we can certainly all stay off of your "treads".
However, the purpose of a discussion forum is not that one person should dominate the forum thread, whether it is to preach God's message to you, or any other reason.
I actually didn't see anywhere that @Chrissy Page (or anyone else) said she was drawn closer to God by your preaching the Holy Spirit "seeds"; so why you think that your preaching was productive is a mystery to me.

If @Ken Anderson wants to allow you to preach here, you might try at least confining it to the religious section of the forum, and then people who want to listen and participate will not be off-topic as happened here in the Conspiracy and Paranormal section.

Back to the topic....yes there has been a movement in and out of the government, to do away with Biblical principles in America. I think our times of peace and greatness, were the result of God's hand of Blessing on our country. I believe that when we failed as a Nation to repent and turn back to God, following 911, that god removed His hedge of protection from us and we have been seeing the results. I believe that the end time is very near.

I disagree on the timing, Joe. prayer was taken out of public schools in 1962. It was a year before Madelyn Murray was a hot item in the news. I don't have a memory of Steven Engel but I do remember Madelyn Murray.

I also have a vague memory of silent prayer being allowed for maybe a year. I think I was a freshman in High School. The US probably still has more Christians than other countries.

Churches are also alive and doing well it seems. We have one on almost every corner. The only thing I'm seeing is a lot of hate among americans. We are very split as a country. The split is more political than religious.

This is what I see in my corner of the world anyway.

I've often heard this, too, @Chrissy Page , that is was '62 (although I was thinking it was '63) when prayer was removed from school that "the loss of morals and values" began. I have always believed it. I was just born in '57, so I don't have a lot of (or any) firm memories from before those early 60s, but somewhere deep inside of me, there's a nostalgia for the 50s and early 60s... even though I was too little to have the actual memories. Hard to explain, but sometimes I think I was born a decade too late.

The plot to remove God from the public schools began long ago, at least as far back as John Dewey, but probably before then. But, along with the rest of the agenda, it has accelerated since the government obtained more power after the September 11 terror attacks, and has been at full speed for the past seven years.

In fact in California, every 4th grader is required to do the California Missions project. They get a mission and have to do a report, visit the mission (they are religious) and do some sort of mock up of the one they have.

My grandson had the one in Soledad. I remember going there with him.

I haven't given this any thought, @Ken Anderson , so this is simply the thought that flew into my mind when I saw what you said... I'll throw it out here for discussion fodder. "Since September 11... or since the beginning of the current administration in January of 2009?"

I honestly don't see it at least not in the lives of people around me. My grandsons go to a public school but every week they go to Catechism, sometimes the room at the church wasn't available and the teacher came over to the Public school and had the class there for the catholic students. Nobody was upset. High school requires community service and last week my grandson volunteered at a church children's activity type thing. This happens a lot. The public school accepts the hours working in a church and gives credit. The church wasn't even the one my grandson belongs to but one of another faith.

Can you give me an example of where God is being taken out of my life (meaning grandsons who are in the public school system)

I even remember being shocked with my grandsons history homework because it mentioned Jesus.

I wish I could remember the exact question but I can't but I did think it was strange.

You're pretty much on point, in my most humble opinion @Joe Riley. Our dear leaders have been denying God his right to lead a country that He founded and has been protecting all these years.
It reminds me of the story about how Saul became king of Israel. In short form, Israel no longer wanted God as King but instead wanted a mere mortal to lead them. God gave them what they wanted and the consequences that went with that choice.

I nearly agreed with Chrissy and Mari but realized that your statement was concerning the period when God lifted His hedge of protection, not when our people decided to swat His hand for protecting us. Dunno if God finally got tired of us swatting at Him but 9/11 was an eye opener for sure.
But yes, I also agree that the definitive start of the degradation of the U.S. and Godly values did pretty much start when we not only denied our young ones the right to pray, but told them it was wrong to pray en mass at school. (or anywhere else for that matter)

Good job all for getting back on track!!

Our problems began long before Obama, but the government was given the power to do whatever it wanted after the September 11 attacks. The trappings of Christianity were there during the Bush administration, but they were all wrapped up in patriotism. Without the unconstitutional powers given to the federal government in the Patriot Act and similar legislation, and without a complicit Republican congress, Obama wouldn't have had the power to wage the attacks that have been waged during his administration.

:) Excellent answer, @Ken Anderson , yes... and you're right. Further proof that I should probably think things through *before* blurting, not after. (Sooooo hard for someone like me!) but yes, it's been a lot longer... I do notice more and more of our freedoms being snatched since 2009, but yes, *something* previously gave him the power to do that.

I must be special because I can't think of any right that's been taken from me. I'm sitting here trying to think of something but can't.

Maybe it's something that never bothered me and that's why I can't come up with anything, can someone tell me what I've given up? I'm not kidding. I feel we live in a pretty good country and can't complain about too much.

Maybe being able to use a dressing room or go potty without a peeper with a phone cam under the door? (Yes, it's already happened locally... four times, two at places I often frequent.) Or being able to own a personal gun to protect property and family *IF* you choose to? (Granted, not taken yet, but they're trying) I'm at a video meeting in another screen, so can't list more right now... maybe others can help me out... if not, I'll be back tomorrow.

Ok, peepers have been around forever...that isn't new at all. I haven't had any problems in public bathrooms. I go in, pee, wash my hands and leave. I've never ever seen someone put a phone cam under my door.
The last pervert was when I was 10 and a boy in school would walk behind girls and snap a pic under our dresses with a cheap camera. He was 10 also. This was in 1961.
I'm not interested in buying a gun now or in the future.

I've even tried looking online for the answer and nothing is popping out at me.

I have the right to go to any church I choose or not go at all.
As for praying in public school, that was never a big deal because to be honest most kids didn't really pray. Church is the place to pray. You go to school to learn. Always had the option of a catholic school, where we prayed too much in my opinion.

It's never bothered me if they tap my phone or all these other type of things that I don't even think they do but be my guest.
I don't mind security searches at airports because if it makes me safer that's good, plus I am TSA approved and can go through the quick line.

My biggest aggravation was my AT&T Uverse bill and I've solved that problem without giving up anything really.

One more thing I just remembered about prayer in school, I remember that I didn't think it was fair because we said the "Our Father" and it wasn't the catholic version and I had to stop before the part with " for thine is the Power, and the Glory and I don't know the rest. So, it was unfair to Catholics. I'm sure the Jewish kids didn't say that prayer either.

As for taking your guns away, have any of you had them taken away yet? This topic is not new, I remember it being an issue as far back as the 80's. Democrats always wanted that and were anti NRA. I probably have a life membership to the NRA because back then I remember my husband and his friends doing everything to support them. He was a life member but he's dead now. The SHTF scenario was big back then but I can't remember what the threat was. My husband and some friends were all preppers but that never happened, whatever it was.
That's why I don't buy into any of this too much, it's always happening. My husband was always buying some gun that was to be banned. I'm not a gun expert but it was an AK 47 or something similar to a machine gun.

I just thought of one thing that I felt was wrong and that was having to sign up for Obamacare but in the end I didn't and was never fined. I was willing to pay the fine had a gotten one.

I'll leave with you one last thought and point about Christianity. The US still has the most Christians in the world.

Seems we're never satisfied and always worrying about things that aren't that bad.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_by_country

Also seems Catholics outnumber other Christians.:)

Okay, this is probably a stupid move on my part (yes, it's alright if I'm calling MYSELF names!!) but my busiest work time of an entire year starts annually on 01 July - 01 Sept, and I wanted to address Chrissy's concerns, but didn't even take the time to read this whole page. What I read I have heard often over the last few years, so at least it seems accurate (I say it's probably stupid of me because I know full well no matter what is posted in volatile issues, someone's going to dispute it, but I'm taking the risk.)

This site may be overly conservative (although what I saw really is happening, so doubtful) or overly liberal (even more unlikely) but for what it's worth, these are some of the points many Americans are making about the "removal or threat of removal of constitutional rights."

Disclaimer, to any disputers, Mari is going to be scarce for 8 weeks, so her quietness to any posts attempting to dispute this site she hasn't fully internalized does NOT mean she's running away from controversy. She's *much* too opinionated and stubborn for that! :D She's just putting grub on the table and paying the Internet bill.

    Check it out here

I looked at that site yesterday when I was trying to see what rights of mine have been violated, Mari.

I just looked at what would concern me and I didn't see any if it's happening the way it states.
The Patriot Act isn't bad in my opinion. You will always step on somebody's toes, it's unavoidable.
    I'll look closer...

What???? You're going to be busy with work, I can't allow that! You're the one person that can say anything even if it isn't my view that doesn't upset me. If you're not married, I'm going to look for a rich sugar daddy for you. :)

Thanks for dropping by when I needed you! Drop in when you can.

Ok, I'm finding a few errors in assumptions. Here is an example of then saying that just know who you are calling will give a lot of info about you even though the conversations aren't recorded.

    Here is one example.

“There’s a lot you can infer,” Binney continued. “If you’re calling a physician and he’s a heart specialist, you can infer someone is having heart problems. It’s all in the databases.” The data, he said, is “all compiled by code. The software does it all from the beginning — they have dossiers of everyone in the country. That’s done automatically. When you want to investigate or target somebody, a human becomes involved.”

    ***
That's wrong, my dr is listed as a cardiologist but he's also a GP and I chose him because he was near my house not because I have heart problems.

There's a lot if reasons why someone is calling an HIV number, could be for a friend. This type of information is usually used I think for Politicians or public figures not someone like me.

Oh, no worries there... I'll be here to make sure you're staying out of trouble :p but not putting time into intricate discussions or having to think, put time into serious conversations, or spend hours here like in the past, etc. And thank you for saying these very kind words... I'm so glad you feel that way. Not everyone does. I *do* think we're very much alike, even though some opinions or beliefs differ. In fact, you often creep me out by saying something I was about to say.

Rich sugar daddy? Hehe Uh... no, you'll have to keep him for yourself... I got married 37 years ago. :D

Patriot Act... remind me to give my thoughts on that when I'm able to do serious conversations again. I feel differently about it now than I did when they first started it.... "I'm not doing anything wrong" vs. invasion of constitutional privacy and where it could lead once the door is opened. I do enjoy these conversations, but my next online meeting is at 2:30... and it's 2:42. Oooops, shame on me. Carry on, @Chrissy Page , and keep yer chin up... hold onto your convictions and... get OUT of here, Mari, you staller!

Popping back in to hyperlink that URL. I learned something new... never tried that before, or even knew what it was exactly. Sorry for not remembering to try before, @Ken Anderson ! :)
