The latest NHC forecast has a TD, soon to be named TS Nate and possibly a hurricane before making landfall in the Florida Panhandle... There seems to be a lot of division on the weather boards about this and amongst the various models and where it will make landfall.... Then there is quite a bit of disagreement over the intensity, as the divisions are based on water temps and lack of wind shear, with some insisting TS status at landfall and others a Category one or higher. In either case, all agree it is a very fast moving system.
24 hours later and the Euro Model and the NHC have shifted significantly to the west and the GFS slightly to the east. Almost in agreement on the track, but the weather guys are still harping on intensity. To me it seems most are saying T.S. only, with fewer in the Hurricane group, with a small minority still insisting Category 3.
Wherever this thing goes, we just don't want it coming close to us! Or, should I say, "Enough is Enough!" for this hurricane season.
We have been looking at the radar for our area (northeast Alabama), and it looks like we have thunderstorms starting on Sunday, and going through Tuesday here, although that forecast can always change as we get closer to the arrival of the storm. We are far enough inland that by the time it gets this far, we should just get heavy rain. It has been dry here for most of the last month; so a good soaking rain would be beneficial at this point.
My area is getting quite dry as well. Just aerated and overseeded, so hoping for some rain. Here is one forecast through Monday.
