Having looked it over closely, it occurs to me that it could apply to absolutely anyone saying absolutely anything on absolutely any forum.
Yes. These things are used often and used professionally in political forums and Facebook groups. Otherwise, some people just come by some of these things naturally, I think. You'll see some of them used here whenever someone mentions religion, and in some of the political discussions. People are paid to do this before elections, especially in social media.

I doubt that this little forum is important enough for the government to send a troll , but in some of the larger forums, and now in facebook groups, this can happen. I haven’t seen anyone that I thought might be an actual paid-to-troll person anywhere; but I have seen the group admins mention that they had to block some trolls, so I am sure there are lots of these out there.
Yes, there are trolls...you see them a lot on the comments section of a news article but they come from both sides... Since I'm a moderate, it's always obvious to me...yes, conservatives do it also. I see things shared on Facebook that have no facts to back them up but are posted as fact. I'm sick of it from both sides! Might be time for a break again....it's starting to get to me, even on here. Happy Thanksgiving if I don't get a chance to post ....

I feel great @Yvonne Smith ..that's why I'm taking a break from here. I get frustrated and don't want to offend anyone if I reply differently to a post. It's not easy when your views are in the middle.

I checked its origin, and the site has a good rep, but it wouldn't be the first time a TLA got their disinformation into a legit site. I cannot decide if it is what it seems to be, or the exact opposite...propaganda designed to spread suspicion and specifically target the paranoid, in order to shut down discussion.
