Holly, top secret plans by our governments are often kept top secret for decades. Just because they say they weren't told ahead of the strike doesn't mean that they weren't. By saying that, they avoid being potential targets of future attacks by the enemy.

I don't agree with the video. I'm sure the average person in Iran is just trying to get by the best way they can; like us average Americans. They are not responsible for what their leaders do any more than we are responsible for what our leaders do. Why bomb them to blitherings?

I do agree with this. Sometimes secrets are needed for protection. I have no doubt our allies are ready as they always are and especially prepared regarding these particular events.

That “song” debuted in 1979, during the Iran hostage crisis.

I agree. Most of the people within the Arab nations just want a normal peaceful life. This is why I think drones are one way to thin out the leaders who are hell bent on causing unrest all the time. Much like in the USA, it only takes a handful of agitators to cause all sorts of problems.

After 911, Bill Clinton said that they had opportunities to get Osama bin Laden, but for whatever reason they did not. Then came 911. What Trump did may have averted some sort of an attack that was in the works. I trust Trump's judgement. He has had a good record so far.

I totally agree with that. The terrible thing is that in most of those countries, the people are literally forced to act like they support their leaders, just as the people in North Korea have to do.
We have so many freedoms here, we sometimes don’t stop to think what people in other countries have to deal with just to stay alive.

Here is an article posted on facebook by an Iranian journalist, and it explains things really well.

I thought it kind of interesting that they showed 4 caskets on the truck carrying him. Maybe the missile did in fact shred him. Too bad.

Politicians are not prone to tell state secrets to their wives. @Shirley Martin posted, it is to the UK's benefit to publicly state they had no prior knowledge. The UK has a large Muslin population and there would be no gain in it seeming as though the government played any part in the actions taken.

Then again, maybe they weren't told. I don't think there are any treatise which would obligate the US to share their military decisions with any other country.

I listen to politics every day on the radio - our Government has remained quiet on the ins and outs of this - and rightly so
