    @Ken Anderson You've got the same driving and reasoning habits that I have with one exception. When I was working full time I had to commute to Andover, MA from ME and on 2 separate occasions I was stopped by the same state trooper about a week apart. The first stop was when I was rushing home to go to dinner with one of my grandsons who was about to leave for college. The trooper gave me a ticket for going 80 mph even tho I was going a little more than that. I don't remember the details on the second stop but the trooper when he came to the window said "we've got to stop meant like this". Again I was go about the same speed as the first time and he wrote it for 80 mph. The was when the ME turnpike was still 65 mph.

    We rarely see the state police on I-95 north of Bangor, so I'll push it there. For that matter, we rarely see another car north of Bangor.

    @Hal Pollner
    Dear Old Hal,
    Congratulations on a successful, but very disturbing thread!
    Hal, why do you continue to listen to this fake news and commentary? It is just more liberal BS. Redefining phrases and words to change what is real. When have you been to a kids 13th birthday party and someone ask the kid, "how young are you today?" That kid is proud to be 13 years OLD and a teenager. Go attend a fine long aged wine and long aged cheese party hosted by someone age 101. "Wow, this 50 year aged Merlot taste 50 years young and this 10 year aged Cheddar is the best 10 years young cheese ever and you look lovely at 101 years young." It is like after 50 we get put back in the womb and after 9 months we are in the negative. I am 69 years old or put into liberal mathematics >>> + 828 months - 9 months (back in the womb time) = -819 months divided by 12 = -68.25 years young. So I have to wait another minus .75 year before celebrating my 69th years young birthday. Damn it, I had a grand soiree planned and this just ruins everything!!! Nearing 69 trips around the sun and proud of it! What I hate most is the "AGE is just a number," statement! Who came up with that stroke of genius? I'll tell you who, the young turds that want to sell us old folks crap we don't need and will never use. "You look as young as you feel!" I must look 176.3376 years young, then!
    Sighingly, Younger but still old, Faye

    " X number of years young" - It's a way to point out that someone is of a significant age, which isn't necessary., especially since they just said their age.

    The "young lady" thing is often condescending, usually said by a male, and not necessary.

    I've told young males before, "Young man, I'm old enough to be your mother."

    It's about passive-aggressive behavior, which is pretty common and every bit as annoying as outright rudeness.

    Some states, including Maine, don't allow ticketing by camera on the grounds that drivers are denied the right to face their accuser. Oh, we have the cameras up, but an actual cop has to be on hand to write the ticket, and it needs to be based on something other than camera data.

    A town east of Houston (Baytown) had them installed a few years ago, but the citizens put up such a fuss with petitions and such that the cameras were removed.

    Meanwhile, somewhere in Florida...

    I think this is mainly used when they are tracking drug smugglers out of Miami or human trafficking or the variety of other weird crimes that come from coastal city ports.
    Do they use these along the borders in Texas? I think it would be a good option.

    I'm sure most states have some sort of aircraft surveillance, but I always "lol" at the interstate signs in Florida that say "speed limit enforced by aircraft."
