Well when it's not to cold what does the beach over there look like?
The Maine coast is mostly rocky, with high cliffs. I'm sure there are places where there are actual beaches that you can get to without climbing down a rocky cliff, but I haven't been to one. I love the Pemaquid Peninsula in Maine, which was actually inhabited prior to the Jamestown Colony, as it was used a place to repair ships and as a trading point with the Indians. I spent a couple of days there a few years back, and wrote an article about the Pemaquid Peninsula for All Maine Matters, a statewide newspaper my wife and I published for about a year. The Pemaquid profile was in the April, 2006 issue, near the end, but you'll find several photographs of Pemaquid throughout.
Beautiful pics , Holly! Loved the huge colored pots.
Even the Pacific Ocean is pretty cold unless you are in Southern California. My 16 yr old grandson is a beach lover but the central coast isn't great for swimming. Some of his friends surf and he does on occasion but they wear wet suits. He usually just skim boards.
That is definitely what I would call a rocky shore beach. By the way Ken is that the house you and your wife bought on page 7? The mystery picture one? LOL You know I'm kidding right.
No, but it's one that everyone has been watching compost for years now. It was clearly a nice house at one time.
When we lived in California we would go to the beach often. The trip to the beach was as nice as the time spent at the beach. Now I live about 1.5 hrs. to the beach along the Chesapeake Bay a great place to visit on the weekends.
Did anyone ever find out the mystery about it?
Don't people do this where you live?: http://www.pressherald.com/2013/12/27/new_year_s_polar_bear_plunges_could_be_extra_polar_this_year/
They did that in Michigan, but I haven't heard of anyone doing that here.
It's my birthday...I'm definitely at the beach today...even if it's only in my mind!
How Sweet...and beachy too! Thank you so much @Terry Page.
Such sweet Birthday wishes...thank you all. Now you're all invited to the beach to have a slice of my Birthday cake!
