I said somewhere a time back, I had not gotten flu since beginning the flu shots in about 2004. I have the flu now, along with my wife. At least, flu-like symptoms. Does one ever know exactly what the cause is? Started for me, about 6 days ago, dry, tightness in the chest. No cough, no fever. Next day, sore throat. Next day, throat better, chest conditions worse. It has bounced back and forth like that every day. Never any fever, no aches or pains beyond normal, no headache. Remained pretty inactive. In the past, I had very disturbing flu attacks, every winter. My wife never got it. This time is different. Today, she was the least active I've seen her for a long time. Pain, fever, cough. While I've used decongestants and antihistamines, she took nothing. Asked her if we should go to the Dr. She said, what could he really do? (exactly what I would have said). Today, hacking up mucus, some was tinged pink (mine). Scary, but has happened in the past. At the moment, there is little evidence of any symptoms for me. By morning, look out. Two nephews are due to travel here in four days. They expect to have a grand time with their old uncle and aunt, I'm certain. I do not want to let them down. Only family I got left...... Frank

Think I'll keep me mouth shut in future But - I'm gonna say this I feel BETTER with the virus today - so them tablets 'did' help ....................................... .....................what have I done !! ..................... Truly hope your symptoms clear fast - get some help from the pharmacist though
I thought I had the flu but went to dr and he said it was Bronchitis ....got antibiotics. Cough up a lot of phlegm but it's never been pink tinged....that would freak me out. I'm on day 4 of antibiotic....feeling and sleeping better. Phlegm is going away too....I'm just weak. Good luck to you and your wife...sucks being ill!

A concoction of things really, no chemicals though, just healthy things Worth asking about, just tell the pharmacist you are weak and tired @Chrissy Cross Its in a bottle - like cough medicine
Only family you have left, BUT, what if your symptoms get worse, due to activities you will be doing with them? What happens if they get back home and come down with what you and your wife have. Medically speaking, not a good idea to have them come to see you right now. Due to health reasons, like what you currently have, better to postpone visit. Now, if you and your wife do get better, before they get there, that's different. BTW, flu and flu symptoms come from a virus both of you got from someone. Getting a Senior Double Dose Flu Shot doesn't 100% guarantee a person won't get the flu, but less likely with the shot and not as bad. It's all up to you and your wife.
The only thing I can think of in a bottle is Geritol and that has iron in it which I don't need. Maybe @Babs Hunt can help me figure out what we have OTC called a health tonic here. Is it B-12? As you can tell, I don't look at the vitamin aisles in pharmacies.
But I'm not going to the pharmacy today. I'm lucky to make it to the supermarket. I'd it's not on the shelves in the store, there's not much they can tell me .... I see some on Amazon but have no idea what I'm looking at.
Never heard of lucozade and I've been eating bananas. Ok, I see lucozade is an electrolyte drink....I asked my dr about electrolytes and he said I really don't need them....I was concerned when I had the diarrhea but that's gone...I'm Balanced.
@Frank Sanoica , if you are coughing up pinky mucous, you should see a doctor. You might have a secondary infection. Do your nephews a favor and tell them to come visit later. @Chrissy Cross , Mama used to give us a spring tonic called Hadacal. Why? Because they hadacall it something. It tasted awful. I don't know if they still make it or not.
Don't know what that is, all I know is when people are ill they reach for Lucozade You may not have needed it - but you need something now
