to open the containers. Now there is a plastic lid with a groove to pull the lid up. Well I just contacted them regarding the lid after the lid slipped off and the contents spilled all over the counter and floor for the second time.

Maybe it wasn't tested on how to handle it to avoid accidents like mine.

I just bought a big box of oatmeal but I bought the Great Value brand from Walmart. It has some kind of paper on the top with a pull tab. It should be fairly easy to open.

Let us know if you get a reply from Quaker Oats company.

I like the new lids; they are easier to open/close for me. I had forgotten about those strings.

I get the one serving bags. They are great. 2 mins in the micro and good to go. I DO remember the string @Von Jones. It was always fun to open the oatmeal. They won't change their lid, but they may send you a coupon for a free replacement.

I remember all the fun things you could do with the old Quaker Oats containers.....drums, little dollhouses, etc.

I make the maple and brown sugar microwavable oatmeal for Bubba. He loves it. I prefer the regular oatmeal. It has more fiber and keeps things moving along.

I love regular "cooked" oatmeal, especially with a handful of fresh blueberries and walnuts on top. Yummy.

I just luv your tenacity. ....Maxwell House lids really urk me....slogan..."Good to the Last drop"...can't even shake all the coffee from the cans with the inside jetted out rim...I wanted to justart email them about it...then I thought...they won't even read it.

This is true!! With coffee so expensive, I actually want to make use of ALL the grounds. You can shake the thing silly and they still catch up in the rim. :D

I like the maple and brown sugar as well. I add a bit of real butter and two tiny squirts of sugar free syrup. I look forward to this every morning. I have a special oatmeal bowl so it won't slop out over the edges when in the microwave.
