Because sex and nudity seem to go hand-in-hand with the "f" word concerning movies.

As far as Richard Pryor goes, he didn't use the f word in The Toy or Brusters Millions. Two guys that had raunchy mouths on stage back then was George Carlin and Red Fox.

Funny thing is, another pretty controversial Thread I done once on another forum was about swearing. Swearing didn't bother some at all to hear and others just couldn't see anything wrong with using the f word or any other swear word. One reply said, "you'd better get use to hearing these words, because a lot of society isn't going to stop saying them".

There were those that don't like hearing and/or refuse to associate with folks that use the language.
    My kind of folks!!

It's just I get my own mouth in enough trouble on this Forum at times Cody...so I don't want anyone helping me get in trouble by putting words in my mouth I didn't say! :p

Anyway, "bottom line" for me now is.........I totally understand why a lot of older folks (ok, Seniors) either don't go to movies at theaters or go very rarely. Unfortunately, not all movies that hit theaters come out in Red Box. For example, the movie about the life of Walt Disney, starring Ryan Gosling, never made it to dvd. Don't know why, but the last time I checked, a couple of months ago, it hadn't been made into dvd yet.

I tend to watch more series now than I used to but I do like movies too.
Unfortunately the discussion on films is short lived given few see the same film and fewer want to discuss it. Good actors today seem few and far between. Though Streep and others do exist, but Depp was once a good actor and now is simply a sideshow pirate. Money doesn't make a movie but it sure helps.
Name a few good contemporary actors? I'll start--Kevin Spacey.

Well while the other fella was flapping about with a sword, Harrison shot him, job done :p
He has 'charm' which is lacking today.
You have to have the charm Kalvin, which was in abundance
in the old style Hollywood. Now we have mostly wooden heads - their faces don't move, they say the lines
(just about) but they have no meaning, lifeless they are
BTW - I have to switch off Anthony Hopkins - yuk
But then if we were all of the same mind, Hopkins would have no fans at all :p

I love Anthony Hopkins [IMG] ....................I go to the cinema/theatre a few times each year, mainly with my daughters, we treat each other to a restaurant meal and a movie in turn as Christmas presents, so we get to go out together three times..............plus a few others during the year if a film is particularly good.
I am not that enamoured with Hollywood fare and old movies in general, apart from a few classics, the method acting and stilted dialogue in a lot of them puts me off.
I much prefer modern movies with a natural style and do not object to bad language or sex scenes if they are relevant to the storyline, because they give a sense of realism.
Some of my favourite movies are French and Eastern European, my favourite actors are Julianne Moore, Juliet Binoche, Meryl Streep, Javier Badem, Nicole Kidman, Ryan Gosling, Irene Jacob, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine and many more
