My daughter loves it and she has a Rolex that she used to wear to work but now she says she prefers wearing her Iwatch and feels bad about the expensive Rolex her hubby got her since she never wears it anymore.

She still tries to put out it on when they go to the country club but she feels lost without her iwatch.

Just another thing that I thought of that is awesome........ the watch has an SOS built in. Suppose you fell and could not get up, or were in a car accident, or just about any other emergency. Simply by pressing and holding the side button on the watch, it will call 911 for you, and if you program another emergency number, it will call that person as well.
I was just thinking about this feature yesterday when @Ina I. Wonder was talking to me about installing one of those 2-way radio intercom systems in every room of her house in case she falls. She said that she has to be able to get to the unit to call for help, and then her grandson can hear it from his room and come to help her.
This should work fine for her, I would think; but with the Apple Watch, it is always right there on your wrist when you need to call for help.

Just an update on how I am getting along with the Apple Watch.
The longer I have it, the more I like it! I am actually getting mor exercise since I wear the watch, because it keeps me focused on getting my “rings” closed each day.
One ring shows how many calories you are burning, another shows the time you spend in active exercise, and the third one reminds me to get up for a few mintues and walk around at least once an hour.
At first, I was afraid to wear the watch when I was swimming, but when Robin and I were at the ocean at Cocoa Beach (in Florida) and I got towed under and fell into the ocean (not deep, thankfully), I learned that I would not drown the watch if it did get wet. So, the rest of that vacation week, I wore the watch when I was swimming in the pool at the hotel each day.
Now, I always wear the watch when I am swimming at the fitness center, and it tracks my laps in the pool. I was swimming about 1/4 mile at first, but I have been pushing myself harder, and today I swam almost a half mile; so you know that I am going to be cutting short the hot tub time, and spend longer swimming so I can break that record.

Oh, dear....... Please don’t ban me !
What is it that you don’t approve ? The watch ? The Swimming ? Falling into the ocean, maybe ? (I am fine with you not approving of that part, by the way)
Maybe, it is the exercise you don’t approve of ?

Since I am not going to stop any of these things (except for falling in the ocean), I guess I will have to do it in secret and not report it to everyone....... will that work ?

The next episode of Apple Watch in our lives.
Since I love having my Apple Watch so much, we are getting one for Bobby next. A while back, Robin gave us a gft that we could not use, and I turned it back in to Best Buy for a gift card.
Today, we went to Best Buy and ordered one of the refurbished watches for Bobby , and he should have it in a couple more days. I am sure that it will grow on him just like it did with me, and in a week or so, he can make his own addition to this thread.

I will also warn @Bobby Cole that @Ken Anderson doesn’t approve; so he will have to be careful about that, too.

Although I do not know much about your wife other than what she writes, I think SHE will approve and that trumps your opinion. So there..…………...

I was just watching a video and the Apple Watch is going to be able to use a walkie-talkie app, probably by this fall when the new iOS for the watch comes out. It looks like it can work with any of your Apple Watch contacts. I am not quite sure why it would be much different than just calling them with the watch, except that it functions like a walkie-talkie (only one can talk at a time) and not like a phone conversation where you both can talk.
I tried calling on the watch for the first time last week, too. Before, I have answered phone calls when they came in, but I have only called someone with the phone.
So, I asked Siri to call Bobby, and , sure enough, the watch-phone started calling him. It works great, and is such an easy way to call, or answer a call.
The longer I have this watch, and the more things I do with it, the more I love having it !

My 23-year-old Timex analog watch has finally stopped running, even though the Backlight function still works.

I tried to replace it at Walmart today, but all their analog Timex watches have a Date window, which I don't want.

All I want in a watch is one that displays the Hour, Minute, and Second, either in Analog or Digital form.

    Nothing else!

No Day or Date window, no Temperature, Humidity, Altitude, Wind Speed, Heart Rate, Elapsed time, or Phases of the Moon.

I never wear a watch anyway, so it doesn't even need a strap.

So.....order pocket watch from Amazon. I bought one about 10 years ago and as far as I know, it still works. That's,...…. as far as I know because I have no idea where it is nor have I since a week after I bought it. :)

I quit using a watch when I quit working as a paramedic. I don’t miss them at all.

I use my old Timex wristwatch as a temporary calibrating source.

    I'll explain:

Sometimes my bedside clock radio loses time, and the morning 6 o'clock news then comes on a few seconds late, so I'll miss the first part of the headlines.

So sometime during the day, I'll take my Timex into the room that has an Atomic Clock, which gets its time from the National Bureau of Standards at Boulder, Colorado.

I'll set my Timex to the exact second on the Atomic Clock, then take it (which has become a temporary Mobile Time Standard) into the bedroom and set the clock radio to the exact time from my Timex.

This is the only use I have of my Timex watch, so I think a Pocket Watch would be good replacement.

    Thanks, @Bobby Cole!

My wife and I both have Apple watches. What we liked best was that we did not have to carry our iPhones from room to room with us to answer calls. We could also access information using our watches. Before I retired it was very useful since I had the larger iPhone and did not carry it around the office or home with me. It sat in one place and I would have to run to it to answer a call or walk to it to check some information. To me the watch was a blessing. My Wife no longer had to fish out her phone from her pocketbook to answer it.

Enjoy the watch. You can do a lot of things with it and I think they are very useful for women or men that would otherwise carry their phone in a bag of some sort. FYI, look on Amazon for additional watch bands. Much cheeper than Apple. My wife has several casual ones in all sorts of colors and a few formal ones.

The Apple Watch Adventure, Season 2, episode 1......
Today , my new Series 4 cellular Apple Watch arrived, and I think that I love it already ! It has lots of new features, new watch faces, and now, it can even tell when I fall and call for help if I need it.
The sensor can detect most falls, and then it displays a message asking if you need help, and you can say yes or no. If you do not answer (unconscious), then it calls emergency, and alerts the emergency contacts from your phone as well as showing your GPS location.
This watch is just a tiny bit larger than my old one, but I think that might be because the screen goes further to the edge now.
It also has sensors to remind me if I start exercising and forget to set the activity tracker, or remind me if I forget to say I am finished.

Bobby has upgraded to my Series 2 watch, which has the waterproof lock, so he can use it if he swims. It is not cellular, but works as long as he has his phone nearby, so if he is doing something, he doesn’t have to stop to find and answer his phone.

    Sounds wonderful Yvonne!

Really wish I could stand wearing a watch.

I hadn’t worn a watch in many years when Robin gave me the first Apple Watch, @Chrissy Cross , and I was not sure that I would be comfortable wearing one anymore, no matter how beneficial it was. However, by the end of the first week, it was like I had never stopped wearing a watch, and I barely thought about having it on my wrist.
I don’t care for the silicone bands, and that is what usually comes with the watch, and finding one that I am comfortable with has had me trying out several of the bands.
The one I finally liked best is a soft fabric kind of band that has a Velcro closure so it is totally adjustable. It lets air through, unlike the silicone bands.
Since I swim, I can’t wear a leather band, and the chlorine in the pool has faded out the little Velcro band.
But, other than finding a comfortable band, wearing the watch is fine, and I really like the convenience of it,, and the safety features in case I need help.

Yes, all the great features are a big draw for me but....still anxious about wearing a watch...only jewelry I can stand now are earrings...even a necklace bothers me.

Maybe I'll try again this Christmas. :)

Well yesterday my daughter gave me her old iwatch2 so I can see if I like wearing it.

This is my first day with it, so far so good but I'm really not sure what I'm doing half the time, lol.

Have to study it. Seems I'm always touching the wrong thing.:)

Ive got what I want the most figured out and that's my activity.

They just left for Hawaii so @Yvonne Smith ...what's the best and easiest site for me to study to learn what I need to know?

I just messaged you the link for the Apple Watch manual thatis put out by Apple. You can download it into your iBooks. It says the new watch, but it will work for any of them.
What I did was read through the whole thing to get an overview of how things worked, and then went back to specific pages as I needed to know something.
You can also look on youtube for specific tutorials for things , like how to change the watch face, and stuff like that.
Message me if you have questions ! What series is your Apple Watch ?
You are going to Love this watch !

The watchband makes a lot of difference , at least for me. Mine came with a silicone band, but it scraped my skin. Then I got a Milanese chain with a magnetic closure. It is totally adjustable to fit perfectly, The problem with that one was that the magnet sticks to other metal, so you can actually pick up a fork with your watchband.
Next, I got a velvety one with a Velcro closing, and so far, that is my favorite for being comfortable. Swimming has faded it out a bit, but other than that, I liked it the best of any of the bands I have tried. I wanted leather, but you can’t swim with that, so have not tried leather.
I also got one of the pretty elastic ones that looks like jewels, but it pinched my wrist.
I guess what I am saying with all this, is just try until you find a band that suits you best, if you have problems with the one that is on the watch.

Just to put things into a proper light Chrissy.
I have bought Yvonne a watch or two and her daughter has bought her a couple of quite nice watches and my dear wife was rarely seen with any of them on. For one reason or many, she refused to wear a watch......until now.
Other than throwing the thing on the charger, she is rarely seen without it planted firmly on her wrist!

This must be the band it came with...silicone? It's ok.

    It's light and that's what I need.

Of course I wear it fastened 2 notches from where my daughter did...she's very small boned with thin wrists.
