Four nights last week in the hospital with atrial fib and I came back Tuesday in atrial fib again. I was cardioconverted Wednesday afternoon and it put me back to normal heart rythm (NHR)I spent another night in hospital last night and was released two hours ago to come home. My Electrophysiologist will have me taking a little larger dose of Amidarone to hopefuly keep the beast at bay. If I have another episode then a Ablation or Pacemaker might be in store for me. I have only had one Ablation and that was five years ago and I may have new hot spots that interfere with the hearts electrical signal. It's a funny thing but in the 27 years that I have dealt with A Fib I have made a number of Scuba Dives, Played lots of sports and never once had A Fib while engaged in those activities. Bending over to tie my shoes or swallowing to big a bite of food has done the trick. We're all different we A Fibbers.
Have only known one AF. The slightest things would set him off. Hope you can control and it doesn't become chronic.
Mine did fine for almost 3 years after the first procedure in 2014. Last autumn, I tripped in the yard and crashed flat on my face and body, and it was after that that I started having a-fib episodes again. I do not know if that triggered it or not. My Electrophysiologist said that my heart had made new pathways and that is what he had to ablate this time. last time, it was in the back of the atrium left chamber, and this time it was in the front. Possibly, it had been slowly doing this over time. The procedure they did on me last time was a new one, called a Convergent. They actually do two procedures, one after the other, with two specialists. One was the regular ablation that goes up though the vein, and the other scraped the outside of the heart, and they made a small hole in my chest to do that one. This last one was just the regular one, thankfully. Here is the information about the Convergent procedure, @Lon Tanner . Saying prayers for you, and hoping that the extra amioderone does the trick. http://blog.al.com/breaking/2013/12/huntsville_hospital_first_in_s.html
I know you were disappointed that your cochlear implant was put off til September but maybe it's better that you're getting this taken care of first!
