I dearly tried to find another spot for this because I do realize that there’s not much in the way of comments a person can make.

San Francisco and the land of Nancy Pelosi where plastic straws are illegal but the free needles that are allotted for addicts are found laying around everywhere, has a new job position: picking up human waste.

Yes, human poop is highlighted in San Francisco because along with the needles and other trash, people are leaving trails of poop on the sidewalks, roads and door entrances everywhere.
It would seem that the good folks of the Golden Gate city have to not only watch out for the inevitable dog dropping but also the stuff of human texture.
So much so the the wonderful city has now put in place a new job position which doesn’t even take a college degree to earn the big bucks and they call it........
    THE POOP PATROL!

Yes, the phrases of being knee deep in S@#$ or stepped in S@#$ is now noteworthy for indeed one can earn .....$71k in salary which translates into $184K a year with benefits for being “knee deep” or “stepping in” the stuff whilst cleaning it up.

Perhaps the Obama motto of “leading from behind” has some merit after all.

    Probably not @Gloria Mitchell

There is a problem with that in SF.

I haven't been there in awhile and when I was there I never saw it...depends where you go I guess. :)

    Yes, homeless and addicts mostly.

A few years ago there was actually a poop map of where to avoid....

You're not going to find poop in front of the Ritz Carlton where my daughter and SIL stay when they go for a weekend trip.

They go a few times a year ...it's only a two hr drive for them but SF has a lot of their dental continuing courses and classes they continually need to keep their dental license.

All these classes or seminars aren't free either...cost a lot of $$$

In their defense, these people would probably clean up after themselves but the city banned plastic, so they can't even carry poo bags.

According to Rent Jungle the average rent for an apartment in San Francisco, CA is $3,738.00/month.

If you don't have a home you certainly don't have a toilet so what are these folks supposed to do?

I'm sure the folks at Starbucks don't want them coming in to use the facilities.

    Very sad situation.

Probably the biggest problem is that SF is really only about 7 miles in area total...so tiny but I think it has a lot more homeless people than other places.

Good weather year round maybe why plus lots of tourists....so more of a chance of getting some money.

Also, more liberal and lenient I'm guessing.

The last time I read, SF has about 3000 homeless compared to Los Angeles which has nearly 70K but as you said, San Francisco is much smaller.
Interestingly enough, the Los Angeles combined homeless missions budgets of the United Rescue Mission and the LA mission stands at around 50 million+ a year.

    @Gloria Mitchell
What's wrong with people? In a nutshell, they have degraded to not being people, anymore. If it's as commonplace as indicated, arresting them for crapping in public will fill the jails, overburden the judiciary, and possibly cause rioting. So, easy way out, use tax dollars to fund clean-up.

And to think at one time I considered moving there......

Tax dollars + Jail inmates = Jail inmates cleaning up poop for less than 71K a year.
