This is a new one to me! Has anyone had experience with silver dollars! They are vegetarian and can grow to six inches in diameter!
Truly beautiful silver dollar! However I don't longer have interest to keep at home a freshwater aquarium, which was a cherished dream for years until I got one to put into a sunken miniature galleon, treasure chests and so on. It was so beautiful, particular at night because of the illumination included in the setting. Even though a friend of mine told me it was bad luck having tropical fish at home, what seemed to me pure superstition, but the time confirmed her words and my luck only changed back for good until I gave up with such aquarium.
I had some years ago in one of my aquariums, but I don't recall treating them any differently than my other fish. I love the silver ones, the flashes of their color are really pretty in the aquariums.
To be honest when I first read this header I thought it was about the silver dollar or someone collecting them. I had no idea it was about a fish with that name. I had never actually heard of this type of fish till now. They are quite beautiful to look at. I have never owned an aquarium, from what I have heard they are allot of work to maintain and keep up.
I read that Silver Dollar coins are worth more if the mint left a flaw on them. I inherited an 1885 one with 885 engraved on her cheek and 3-25 engraved in the background but the pic is too large to post here. It's not mint but it's in incredible condition. I was going to join an online site of coin collectors and I was going to make Lady Liberty my avatar but they were talking coin language that was beyond me. Here is the avatar I was going to use of this 1798 silver dollar. Isn't Lady Liberty pretty?

I've never heard of it being bad luck but it's a lot of trouble having an aquarium at home. We had those type of fish but I don't know if I ever knew what they were called. That was back in the early 80s. I don't like anything that requires a lot of upkeep. My husband is lucky I keep him around, huh?
