I had my adopted cat's nails cut in July at the facility where I got her. My fingers lack the dexterity to cut her nails or put on nail caps after they are cut. I think my adult grand daughter can help me with nail caps.
Ugh; I hope those don't hurt the cat. Seems like if she were to scratch on a scratching post they would just pop off anyhow.
The scratchers around the house have always done a pretty good job of keeping my cats' nails trimmed while they were young and healthy. When they get in their twenties, that's not always the case, so I trim their nails when needed. Actually, I trim them every now and then anyhow because I've found that if I have never trimmed their nails in the first twenty years, they're not so receptive to it later. So every now and then, I'll trim a few of Ella's nails. Bubba views everything in his world as playtime though, so when I tried to trim his nails, he assumed that I wanted to play fight.
I've always trimmed my cats' nails myself except for Chloe who was untouchable when it came to her legs and feet. I've never considered having any of my cats' claws removed because that would leave them unable to defend themselves or climb a tree to escape a dog. I've had cats all my life but have never heard of a nail cap. I assume they are put on after the nail is cut but how in the world do they stay on? Hmm ,,, could there be a market for cat claw glue ...?
They are a soft cap in various colors that stays on with a glue that comes with the kit. See Kitty Nail Caps.
I always have the Veterinarian trim my dog's and cat's nails. It's worth the cost to avoid the quick! Howl
Dear Howl, Avoid the quick what? Howl instead of Hal? Your new name? Okay then. Or is the moon full tonight ... Do you notice any extra hair on your face along with a desire to hunt, kill and eat people? Last month I got shot in the ass with a silver bullet. Man, I hate when that happens. from Diamonds And Rust - Joan Baez Well I'll be damned Here comes your ghost again But that's not unusual It's just that the moon is full And you happened to call
15 years ago I saw Joan at a concert at the Avalon Theatre, a small venue in Easton, MD. After her performance I waited close to the stage door to talk to Ms. Baez. I didn't understand why I was the only one waiting to get an autograph. She finally emerged with two of her minders. I got her autograph on an album by her , then handed her a picture of myself with Felix - the one I'm using as my avatar. She was a little drunk. I had scrawled on the picture - "To Joan with all our best, Dwight and Felix." I had drawn and colored in a paw under Felix. She laughed and actually hugged me. I was so surprised I didn't hug back, so I only briefly felt the warmth of Boobs du Baez.
You don't really know who you are, do you HalHaroldHarryHowlHP? After my second stroke the nurse asked me "Do you know your name?" I said "What's a name?" I made that up. Of course I know my own name. It's June Cleaver.
You and me both, Hal. I think I was born with existential angst. When the nurse slapped my bottom I thought to myself "I don't even remember my own name!" Then I thought "Oh, that's okay. They haven't even named me yet."
