Enjoy your day and support those that support trying to reclaim our country. If I helped anyone to refocus and understand deeper what the holiday is about, then regardless of how you celebrate it, it is a step in the right direction. Freedom is best appreciated once it is lost and then reclaimed.
My dog used to have the same problem. I lived in an area where individuals shooting off fireworks were illegal, but the sound of the town's display about a mile up the road freaked her out all night long.
That one is for support of Law Enforcement, Shirley. Our police here do an awesome job, and we want to show our support for what they do.
