I will very briefly say that having been posting here and getting the best positive reception I could possibly have expected, I will reveal that I have sent a few PMs to folks who professed their "friendship" to me in a previous old-timers forum, and received no response forthwith.

I feel sorry for them. A forum does not, to me anyhow, represent any kind of blot on one's person, should they be viewed as undesirable by others. Just say, "We're in this thing together". Frank

I like to think of this Forum as a place where we can all be the "big kids" we are in our hearts, while still being the mature grownups we all are too! @Ken Anderson is a wonderful moderator who keeps us "big kids" from getting to rowdy while allowing us to grow and learn to share nicely with each other.;)

I yet to find a forum like this one. When I first started people were so nice to me, very welcoming. I had left for a while and kept thinking I need to go back and catch up and see what has been happening. Hi Babs, I agree with you, coming here is like a playground for grown-ups, where everyone has had an adventure of some kind. Remembering all the things we did when we were young. The topics they one can pick from, they are endless. Sure I go on Facebook, but there is really no one you can talk to, share anything with, yes they have games, and one can play these games for so long. One thing I don't care of going on their chat, is that they are always fighting with one another, bullying others, it's like little kids who don't know how to get along with one another. And this was when I said I need to good people, who get along, and are friendly. ;)

I like this forum a whole lot. I learn and make new acquaintances and have lots of fun too. It's so funny that no matter where we live we got the same thing in life everywhere! It's nice to know that there are many nice people all over the world who are Senior Citizens. Sometimes you ride the bus when school is just let out and you see all the young ones catching the bus with you and you go to this forum and feel safe again!

    Good Morning Krissttina,
That's another reason why I like this forum, we all get along, unlike other places where there is so much hate among each other. Another thing I like to hear about different cultures, since I don't get to travel to other countries. I never pictured me as a Senior Citizen, I always refused to get older or should I say mature :D. I understand what you're talking about, kids now a days have no respect for others. (I know not all kids are like that), but the ones I've seen, all I can say is wow, they eat with that mouth. Every other words is a cuss word. And this is another reason I enjoy this forum. I look back when I was growing up, where we were not allowed to talk back, and to respect our elders, too bad kids now a days can't do the same. I agree with you coming into these forum is like a safe house.

Hmm, I wonder if I knew you there? I left due to a swift boot in the rear, and surely hope your own exit was less, er,.......mentally stimulating!

I joined this forum to lure my husband because he is the real senior between us (he's 61 now and I'm 53). But he's not really fond of this kind of website so I lingered and later on got to like the topics maybe because I have something to contribute. With some members here, I remember them but I don't remember getting PMs since conversing in the threads would be enough bonding. It's ironic though that I received PMs from 2 friends here in the other forums.

I'm getting curious about that other forum where there is hate. Maybe there are bullies around?

I'm a veteran of many forums. This is by far the best one. I was on a small, local forum for awhile. Things tended to get pretty hot and heavy there over politics. One irate poster offered $50 to anyone who could tell him my name. I guess no one could or did.
Another forum had lots of posters from all over the world. Many of them were anti-American. Things often got pretty unpleasant.
Lately, I get all the political action I want on a couple local newspaper and TV news sites. I'm an avid liberal baiter.:D

Hi Frank, I don't think I got the boot. Just tired of some of the posts and people. And then in the end there was one individual who posted some, in my opinion, strange and twisted responses to some posts I made. I had it and quietly didn't go back.

I was in a seniors chat forum that I used to love. Anyway, I have become personna non grata there for reasons I don't fully understand. It is hurtful when you spend a great deal of time on a site only to be as welcome as the plague. However, I might continue there just to spite them..:p Anyway, this forum is nice. It is probably best not to comment on topics you are not in agreement with though. You can't expect everyone to share your opinions.

I've been on many senior forums and have been banned from a few. The one Frank is talking about banned me at least 5 times since I always came back with an alias which of course is against the rules.

Usually when I traveled somewhere else and had a different IP, I would sign up and last til I got home. I've had opportunities to join there again but it's gone so off track there that I wouldn't join even if I was given amnesty.

I hope I'm not breaking the rules here by saying I was banned here also awhile ago. I have to learn to stay away from topics that upset me and so far I'm doing okay. :)

Although I was angry with Ken about being banned and even sent him some nasty emails, he is the only forum admin that was kind enough to let me back at a very low point in my life.

I was on a small forum and two days after my mom died someone accused me of something I didn't do. That was not the time to attack me. Most of us have been nasty at some point in our forum careers, either on the board or behind the scenes but this was different. I was grieving and the shock of this persons words made me physically ill.
Even if I was at fault it was not the time to bother me. Anyway, I left that forum and needed something and I reached out and without any questions I was taken back. People that I hurt on here before welcomed me.

I am very done with any drama on forums. I have let go of all hurts from others in the past and I hope they all also accept my apologies. Still can't forgive the one person but maybe with enough time I will.

Hope nobody is offended by my words but it is my truth.

Some discussions would be boring if everyone agreed. As long as disagreements are made with respect on all sides, that shouldn't be a problem.

Well some things like politics get very heated and it is usually best not to comment on them when you have a divergence of opinion. That is one of the topics that not too many people can stay completely civil on when their viewpoint is challenged. I have learned that from spending quite a bit time online. Even though we all would like to be open minded, few of us truly are. There are a few other topics like that. I would agree with you in an ideal world though...it would be nice if everyone could "play nicely.":):)

I hadn't been on any forums in such along time, in fact I was without a computer. This is just personal preference, but I hate working Windows. And sent my computer to NM for Pip to have it changed over to Linux system. It hasn't been very long since I've tried out the forums. The first one in their ad mentioned how friendly it was blah blah. I did meet some nice people, (feathered friends). All my comments were was on crocheting and jigsaw puzzles. But had an awful time posting pictures, and removing messages that was shown double. I asked how to delete, and got this long explanation. Then all of my messages were saved on my e-mail. Big deal I didn't want that. Since Pip's been home I had him look at this crazy forum. He said, where do you delete? He's mumbling, this isn't necessary, neither is this, and last remark change forums. That forum, I don't think they kicked you out, they just ignored you. It sure wasn't some hot and heavy debate:eek:. I've enjoyed it here so much. It's like having friends on a picnic every day. And your's truly, "Quaky Moto" loves picnics.;)

Ha ha, @Marilyn Pahl....I think I know what forum you are talking about and you are very lucky that you left on your own terms....most of us were banned from that forum.

I can honestly say now after reading the garbage on there lately....they did me a favor. :)

It is not a friendly forum at all.

Hmm, I am wondering what forum it is and if I know it. There are a few chats that advertise themselves as friendly that are quite clicky. Anyway, I think it is best not to invest too much time in any one location because there are generally one or two personality types that are kind of hard to get along with or who rub you the wrong way. It also helpfu; to remember that not everyone is going to like you, and its Ok if they don't.

Unless yove had a diffrent username, I've never seen you on there, @K E Gordon.

It's a fairly big seniors forum and used to be good a few years ago but it's gone downhill. Nothing on there but politics these days and all liberal, most of the conservatives have left.

I think I told you why I left the other forum..
I had wished all my Jewish friends a very "Happy Jewish New Year"...
I was told that, that nonsense wasn't acceptable on there and to please stop that...

    I left the forum...............

You were on that forum? Then you will recognize the name "matrix". His real name, presumably, is Kevin Pang. At least that is what his threatening emails sent to me said. He was provoked because I had used the phrase "Oriental", as were many other A.H.s there. I got into it with him. He realized that even though I enjoyed a popular status among members, his image was about to be tarnished, and he kicked me out.

I was devastated, as I had believed in all those admiring likes and PMs praising me. When it came down to brass tacks, after I had posted my email ID, requesting commiseration with anyone interested, he canned me. His email Id username is Kevin Pang. Get the connection? Pissed off enough to kick out a member others told me they enjoyed. How earnest were most of them? Forget it. Dedicated to Mr. Matrix, led as though sheep. This sort of thing I have encountered throughout life. Friends, co-workers, even relatives associated with "the brass" along with me, sided with the brass, no matter what. I called it chicken-shit attitudes then. Today I have stronger words, reserved for other's ears.

Ahh, well now....would you now, having revealed this, be willing to PM me such that I might know if you were among my cherished friends there? It was devastating to my personal integrity to learn most really didn't give a sh!t. I have heard from, since then, only a very few. It may be possible you were one of the members upon which I really counted....Frank
