George Strait Opens Up in Rare Interview on "Headline Country" "I'm not here for a long time...I'm here for a good time"!
George Strait’s Long Ride (link) For decades, he’s been country’s most consistent hit maker. Can he keep holding on?
I know all about George! Have his movie, Pure Country. His son sang the opening song for the movie. Have his hit songs. Have a few pictures of him and his horses on our one wall. He use to host the George Strait Invitational Team Roping Classic each March. After the 35 Anniversary of the Classic, George, and his family, ended it. While it was going, the Champion Team (Header/Heeler) got a new truck, horse trailer, saddle and trophy buckle. He has a life-time membership to the PRCA Rodeo Association. He is/was a Team Roper/"heeler" himself. He is seen doing this in his movie, Pure Country. Him, and Chris LeDoux, were very well known real cowboys having a real working ranch. George in Texas and Chris in Wyoming.
Many of Nashville's country singers didn't like this song, because it cut down the so-called "country music" that is being done today. I totally understand why they done the song. We don't listen to any of the music of today, IOW 2021.
Just call the newer songs something else, rather than simply "country," like Country 1.0 and Country 2.0. Isn't "bluegrass" also considered country music? Totally different sound, imo. But then they couldn't write songs like this. LOL
