We don’t get downpours like you get Louise ..we will be lucky to get the old one inch of rain ..the Adelaide Hills get heaps ,our drinking water comes from the hills rains
The pictures are beautiful, y'all. I love rainbows and sunsets . And thunderstorms if they don't say the T word.
Our weather today feels a lot better than it did a few days ago. The dew point has gone down. Ahhhhhh!
our dew point is down too, feels so much better , was so dern humid and was like taking a steam bath, i never had a steam bath but thinking i know how it would feel with our recent weather lately..
I guess that is one thing we have absolutely no control over is the weather... Not really 4 seasons in one day, but it could be raining and within a short time, the sun is shining.. That is because here in Massey, we are surrounded by s few of the great lakes that bring in everything from squalls to hot weather.. Winters could be something else with snow squalls at any time..
The is a suspicion there was a tornado in the southern parts of Adelaide lady night they are not known in this part of the world ..normally https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-19/suspected-tornado-through-morphett-vale/12572736
Wow !!! Tornadoes can be very destructive... Extremely high winds and usually with loads of rain as well.. We up here have squalls which isn't a tornado but also high winds and lots of moisture, but they don't last long..
Kate, they confirmed that it was tornado. I didn't realize that y'all had them in that part of the world. It doesn't look like it did as much damage as some of the ones that they get out in the middle of the US. We have them here sometimes. I think there was one less than a half mile from my house last spring. They confirmed that there was one in the area. The thing about tornadoes is that they can touch down then go back up then touch down again. Several of my neighbors had damage but the only damage I saw that I had was that it broke the tops off a couple of trees in the woods back of my house.
They blow a siren for a Tornado warning in town, which is only 3 miles from us, We can still hear it loud and clear.. And we do have a basement to run to if need be..
I took the car and truck to get them inspected today. We have to have our vehicles inspected before we can renew the tags. That used to be quite a task. They hooked the car up to come kind of computerized thingamabob and it checked the exhaust fumes, catalytic converter, and a bunch of other things. Now they pretty much just look to see it it has tires on it and still runs. I don't know why things have changed. Do y'all have to have your cars and trucks inspected?
Not in S.A. @Shirley Martin however when I moved 500 km from NSW to S.A. in 1970 I found it strange that you didn’t have to to get your car checked before being able to re register it for another 12 months ..I’m not sure what other states have as compulsory ...it shows in S.A. by the heaps of crap cars on the road with quote often bald TYRES . As just one example I recently seen my old Holden Nova ( made by Toyota as a Toyota Corolla or the Holden nova ) I sold it in 2006 it had traveled very close to 300.000 it was such a trustworthy reliable car I was reluctant to get rid of it ... We had two cars and a motor bike then It’s obviously still running but oh so ...shabby / filthy with bald tyres goodness knows how many km s it done by now ??? Hubby always serviced it and kept it just like new ,the back seat had never been sat in so the fabric seat was like new ,(we parked right next to it in a shopping centre car park ) So that’s one example of how cars can be re registered in S.A.
