@Kate Ellery , look at my Winter Rose thread in Photos and videos. I posted a picture of my last rose covered with snow. Also, look at my Give a Boy a Rope thread in Family and relationships. I posted some pictures of Bubba playing in the snow.
Yes we are ready heading to the city for our Christmas / new year celebrations we will be down there from this coming Tuesday until January 2nd . We are having our Christmas with family on the 22nd due to my daughters work commitments my youngest son whom I rarely see due to him living about 9 hours drive from me will be here as well along with his partner Sarah. ( they are heading to New Zealand for Christmas ) We have quite a few dance functions to attend as well ( we won’t be dancing) as hubs is not well enough yet , but we can still enjoy the music /company/ and laughter If I don’t catch up with my game playing friends have a great Christmas and a happy healthy 2019
Kate...….…………. Have a great time with your family.. Enjoy every moment .. Merry Christmas and a very Happy new year.. Here's hoping your hubby will get much better soon..
Has anyone noticed how short the daylight is these days.. Seems like it is dark for most of the day.. I realise I live up north where the days are really short, but I don't remember them being this short.. We have sunrise about 8:45 or so and sunset around 3;30.. That is a long night !!!!
Do y'all have longer days in summer than we do down south, Steve? I think I read that somewhere. It is usually dark here around 9:00 in midsummer. Meanwhile, under the snow...…
Yes Shirley.. being farther north, the days this time of the year are MUCH shorter than those down south and in summer, our days are longer as well.. Up at the Arctic, they are known as "the land of the midnight sun" in summer.. Likewise this time of the year, there is NO or little daylight.. My snow flowers are doing not bad.. We had quite an amount of snow a few weeks ago but not much lately.. They are still buried and blooming nicely.. Now, if we can get some extreme cold, they will multiply ..
It's 8.10 here now, and it's still almost dark and it's dark again by 4pm, so we have it similar to you...I hate it because it means rushing around all day trying to get things done before it's dark again..
The worse part of all that is we are up to our waist in snow and it isn't even WINTER yet... We have had -33c so far this season.. What can we expect weather wise for the next few winter months..
Only 3 more days until the days start getting longer again. I'll be glad. Steve, I'm pretty sure that you can expect snow and cold temps. And a bumper crop of snow flowers. Holly, what does a hard winter there consist of? I've seen your pictures of snow but how much do you normally get and how cold does it usually get?
