After the pleasant trip along the Amalfi Coast, let's move north to another delightful region. We took a trip to Lake Garda and its surrounding area, with a couple of detours to Verona and Venice. First, though, a taste of the lovely surrounds of Lake Garda.
Absolutely stunning! A few countries in Europe are still on my bucket list, and Italy is one of them.
Great pictures ..... I lived and worked in Castel Mella in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy in the early 90's.
As you can probably tell, Venice, or at least St Mark's Square, gets a touch busy. Verona gets a bit crowded at times as well, but has a few more oases of peace. I'll put up a few shots of that attractive city tomorrow.
As promised, here's a look at Verona. The splendid Roman amphitheatre is still used today as a concert venue. Also note the "Romeo and Juliet" balcony - pure fiction, of course, but a big tourist attraction. In a way, it's quite nice to see that young couples swarm here to have their photos taken. Even a cynical old grump like me has to smile at that.
