How can you tell if you have followers?
Hi @Shirley Martin , what I do is tap on my or anyone else’s avatar, then tap ‘profile page’, then look down the left side of that page, and you’ll see a section listing those people who wish follow you, and down below it you’ll see a place that show who you are following, which will be empty because you haven’t chosen anyone to follow yet.
If you wish to follow someone, just tap on their avatar, and you’ll see the word follow. It’s the third choice to the right.
But most people have there profile set to private and I can't see them. I thought I might be able to see it on my profile.
No. If someone want to block others from seeing themselves, then that’s it.
Well, darn! You're no help!
You can still look on your own profile and see who is following you, @Shirley Martin , as well as who you are following. Since you do not need to go to someone else’s profile page to follow them, (just click on their avatar and choose follow when the little box opens up) you can still follow anyone you want to follow.
I do not know why people block their profiles; but even when you are following someone, you can’t see their profile when it is blocked. The people who are here as “lurkers”, probably do not want anyone seeing their profile; but why someone who is a regular member here wants to block others from seeing it, makes no sense to me.
Maybe some of those who have blocked profiles will explain the reason ?
Is mine blocked? I did have it blocked at one time.
Yours is not blocked now, @Chrissy Cross . I think that a person can look in your settings and see whether they have blocked it or not.
I just checked my privacy settings, and mine are set to “members only”; so anyone here can see my information, but other people can’t see it.
Yes, mine are set to members only. Thanks.
Me neither. Rather, if privacy is sought, supply only meager information, at least something indicative of being interested in participating.
@Holly Saunders (??)
EDIT: "but why someone who is a regular member here wants to block others from seeing it, makes no sense to me."
Possible retaliation from a previous post ..um just guessing.
I just looked at mine and I don't think I even filled out anything except date of birth. And that's nobody's business.
Ah, so, why're ya trying to keep things of interest hidden away from us other stalkers? I LOVE to know my lady friends' credentials! Helps me sidestep unintended consequences resulting from my fortuitous posts! (Come to think of it, WTH does "fortuitous" mean?).
And why on earth would anyone want to follow anyone? that just does not make sense to me, they ought to just get rid of the dear thing... to me I would feel like im being spied on.. just gives me the creeps to know someone Is following me,, im going to be dreaming about this tonight now..
The "follow" feature is simply for those who might especially appreciate what someone says, and wants to be alerted to any posts that they make. Otherwise, they will only be alerted to posts in threads that they have participated in. It's like following someone on Facebook or Twitter. There's nothing devious about it.
I don’t like it either ..I wish @Ken Anderson would delete that option ...or be able to delete a person who is following you at your request
Well I would never use the dear thing on anyone. those little blue binoculars still gives me the creeps..
I trust this forum much more than FB! I have about 8 or so people I follow on here. All that really means to me...theses are people who intrest me and that I want to read whatever they have had to say ...the most. Do not feel its like spying on anyone. Infact if anyone liked what I have to say...would consider it an honor to be followed...and hope those I do follow would feel the same.
I just like to use the like buttons. would be the same a following , in my eyes, anyway.
I guess i'm one of the few who do not go to Facebook.
I call it the F-Book and stay well away.
Here here !
I’ve never joined FB and have no intention of doing so ....I don’t think anyone is interested in what this oldie eats or what toilet paper I use
I’m not interested in gossip or comparing flash cars that many of the younger generation buy ,putting them selfs into deep debt for years just to have the latest car ,to “keep up with the Jones “
I’d rather “talk to my REAL genuine friends “ I’ve made on here
I don’t want to freak anyone out. I just want to be able to keep up with those that are making posts. There isn’t even one person on this forum that I don’t like. But, before I started following you guys, I was missing most of your interesting post. Now if you block yourselves, I understand that you wish to maintain a bit of privacy, and I will unfollow you. But if you set things to members only, I feel welcome to see what you are posting.
For instance, @Yvonne Smith’s post always interest me, so I want to know what she is up to. Although, for some unknown reason to me, that doesn’t always mean I know when she posts.
Hmmmm ... Yvonne ???
The only thing that I can see That following someone does, is to show me their little avatar on the online area, and if they do not show when they are online (like YOU, @Ina I. Wonder ), then I can’t even tell that much. I never see any ind of indication that someone has posted unless I go to my profile page and click on the “people you follow” link, and I just never remember to do that.
Usually, I just look up the name, and then recent posts, to see what someone has been posting; but I often forget to do that, too.
Maybe @Ken Anderson can educate us what we need to do to see friend’s post when we are following them ? ?
