An explosion at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England caused a "number of confirmed fatalities and others injured," police said late Monday.

Greater Manchester Police tweeted that they were responding to a "serious incident" at Manchester Arena and warned people to avoid the area. Manchester's Victoria Station, which is built under the terminal was evacuated and a number of ambulances were sent to the scene.

Absolutely horrifying, completely and utterly despicable to target children...but sadly not unexpected.

Manchester has a very high immigrant population...

They named the first victim, 18 year old female! :(.

My 18 yr old grandson is graduating and this poor girl is gone...really makes me cry and proves we have to make the best of each day, you never know in this crazy world....all so sad.

Kind of true, I wouldn't agree with all, especially the crying...that's very real. :(

Also, the vigils and solidarity...people need a way to cope.

@Chrissy Cross - I 'truly' haven't gotten over the London one, the couple from America still haunt my thoughts
It was their 'first' trip abroad ! The car hit 'him' knocking him off the bridge onto a walkway, he died
She survived, but I think her loss was the result of her passing.
I saw her speak from the hospital - I will never forget her

Yes, when I read the individual stories it's hard to not to cry, we all have loved ones and can imagine what it must be like...well not totally and I hope I never have to experience that.

But from 6 on I agree with Kens post because it will keep on happening ...

Oh, I'm not saying that none of it is genuine. The point is that they're unwilling to do anything to effectively make it stop. It's kind of like, if someone came into my house during the night and stole my computers, I would be genuinely angry and sad, and I might even cry. But I'd make a point of locking the door and taking other steps to keep them from stealing any more stuff.

Yes, I understand what you mean @Ken Anderson but I just didn't want to agree or "like" some of the things put forth...

Yes, some of it is automatic, like the FB filter...some do it without even knowing why, etc. meaningless...

I just don't want to lose our "humanity"!

So @Ken Anderson what do you suggest they do to make these attacks effectively stop? And how are they supposed to know when and where the next attack will occur?

I'll give credit to the Met police here, they have prevented 'many' terrorist attacks here
I 'don't' give credit to the security at last night's venue at all. This guy must have worn a back pack
that, combined with his 'look' - would tell me he needs to be searched, 'off' the premises

That will definitely improve things in the future but I think many of the terrorists are already where they're supposed to be and have been for many years...
