Don't remember the song, remember the bottle. Wouldn't remember the nickel as I didn't pay for anything, mom & dad did!

We made it light, just right for you
    Refreshes without filling too.

From my childhood, conceived by a bright classmate:

    Pepsi Cola hits the spot,
Makes you do it on the pot,
Push the button, pull the chain,
There goes Pepsi, down the drain!

Lon is correct about the Pepsi commercial...except he left out the line after the jingle:

    "Nickle nickle nickle nickle"...etc.

In Turkey, there would be a Pepsi jingle played frequently on the radio. First there would be the "Old McDonald Had a Farm" music, then "PEPSIIIIIIIIIIII...….AHHHHHHHH!" over and over again for a couple of minutes. That's it, just that, over and over.

Funny thing is, I seldom saw a bottle of Pepsi anywhere. It was all Coke. Turkish Coca-Cola was delicious. It was bottled by Coca-Cola in the same bottles, etc., but the bottles said "Koka-Kola" in order to pronounce it the same. "Coca-Cola" is pronounced, roughly, "Joja-Jola" which wouldn't fly.

The Turks didn't serve soft drinks cold, just at room temperature, which wasn't at all what you wanted on a hot day. You'd take a big swig and it would turn into a huge amount of foam in your mouth and throat. If you weren't careful, you'd look like a rabid dog.

There used to be (and may still be...) a Coke pavilion at Epcot where you could sample all sorts of soft drinks made by Coca-Cola all over the world. Some of them taste terrible, at least to me. One of them called "Beverly" is very bitter, sometimes referred to as the worst cola in the world. I think it's sold in Italy.

When I lived in the Rio Grande Valley, I'd often cross the bridge to buy soft drinks in Mexico, mostly because it was ten cents a bottle in the late 1990s. The Coca Cola that was made in Mexico apparently used an older formula, not with the cocaine, but one no longer used in the United States, that would still take rust off a nail.

I misinformed y'all. Pepsi originated in New Bern, NC. Hardees' original store was in Rocky Mount. I knew something started in Rocky Mount. :D

How 'bout this one, from the 1950's:

"Brylcreem, a little dab'll do ya,
    Brylcreem, you'll look so debonair!
Brylcreem, the gals'll all pursue ya,
They love to get their fingers in your hair!"

Vitalis called Brylcreem 'That Greasy Kid Stuff' (which it was!)
