Looks good, Lon...but why such a small amount of wine in the glass? Are you one of those types that allows the wine to "breathe"?

I'll not speak for Lois, but since the steak is breaded and fried it wouldn't be considered "healthy" by anyone's definition. Tasty... yes.

Chickens fry it in a healthier way than people do. That may not be true of the country fried steak, however.

Depends on what kind of oil is used for frying.

Bullfeathers, Lon. You can't fry CFS in olive oil or any of that stuff because the flavor would be off. Besides, the gravy is nothing but oil, flour and milk or water.

I fry everything (that I fry) in olive oil, but I've never made chicken fried steak.

Pecan Oil works just fine. Flavor is fine.

I have never used pecan oil in my life so I'll take your word for it. But getting back to the "healthy" issue, I don't believe any fried food with breading could ever be considered healthy due to the fat and calories.

Olive oil has a relatively low smoke point, so not ideal for deep frying. More of a "stir fry" type oil. I use a lot of olive oil, too.

It is high in fats and carbs, Hal. That's not healthy by any means.

Lois, I've been eating what tastes good regardless of carbs, fats, or other nutro/chemical no-no's since adulthood and into my 83rd year, with annual physical exams always reported as excellent, although I do take a Lisinopril pill for BP.

When I look at numbers on the food container label, I always want to choose that with the highest calories per serving, and I also use lots of sugar and salt on my meals because I like what it does for the taste!

And I never get fat...I remain at a constant 197 pounds at 6'2".

    Your Friend,
    Harry

Y'all may think it's bad for you but life's too short not to eat something good that's bad once in a while.
